Any rumors on Cadet BRANCHING timeframe?

It sure did speed by. As a mid-year grad, when do you get your BOLC and unit assignments?

I'll know my BOLC date next month, and will probably be in BOLC by spring. Most likely going to be a gold bar recruiter for a few months before that.

As far as unit/post assignment, I won't find that out until I'm already in BOLC. I'm getting some help from some former instructors that are trying to get me pulled to their brigades so we'll see how that all plays out.

Who's going to feed us slide decks from Cadet Command? OMG I can't fathom life without you. Gulp.

Regarding the bolded: is that the way it usually works or is this because you are a Dec grad?

No, that's pretty normal, it just varies by branch. None of my friends who have been to FA BOLC, AR BOLC, or IN BOLC in the past few years knew their follow on assignments prior to BOLC. My friends in the support branches such as Transportation, Ordnance, AG, all knew prior to.

I will just get my BOLC dates earlier because I'm a december grad. The May grads will probably know a little bit after that.

LOL, I'm sure someone else will easily fill that role. If you bribe them enough, maybe the couple of PMS's on here will share the real good info with everyone.

I'll definitely still be hanging around on here, but I guess I'll just fade to black since I'll be useless to the parents. haha

You aren't going to get off the hook that easily, we expect to hear about FA BOLC and I assume anyone branching FA next year will be glued to every word. Might even convince a few to move FA up their list

MS1's/2's/3's,

Don't do drugs. Run fast. Push hard. Sit up faster. Stay alive and keep breathing. 2+2=4. Good attitude. Think critically. Left shoe goes on left foot. Socks before boots. Beer in moderation. Significant others cost more than college degrees. Ask questions. Look up answers. Use Spellcheck. You need ASU's to commission. Exhale. Relax. Enjoy the ride.

The keys to success.

Sincerely,
The folks that didn't always do the above

Interesting....last year at my daughter's school, all the Nurses and at least (2) Infantry guys that I know of knew where they were going before their BOLC started. They both went to the same BOLC and both ended up stationed in Alaska at Fort Richardson.

I'd be interested in hearing more about FA as you move along. Armor is currently at the top of my sons list (he's enamored with those Stryker vehicles) but FA with a branch detail to Infantry will also be acceptable to him.

Good luck to you -bull- :thumb:

Yea, I guess maybe I should've been even more specific. It just depends. Some get them before, some don't, it may not even completely depend on branch, it could be based on a post ADSO. And then mix in a little bit of HRC magic.

Absolutely, I'll stay in touch. Armor was actually my first choice as well, FA being my second (though I put all the combat arms branches at the top and would've been happy with any of them). I'll help where I can.

He can rule out FA with a detail to Infantry, that won't happen. Details usually go to support branches, a lot being from MI, Signal, and Finance (and others).

If the difficulty of getting AD and branch of choice continues on the current trajectory, my hat's off to all the younger guys and gals, it's getting pretty tough. Very rarely do you hear someone with a 3.4 GPA in college being called average, but to get active duty, that's the mark.

If he's got any questions, my PM box is always open.

Since you are a December Grad will be looking for those FA pointers for my DS's. Thanks for all your post and updates.... Cheers to you:beer1:

Ok we received our results pretty late compared to other schools. Active Duty and first choice ADA as you can probably tell my by username. DMG as well. Congrats to everyone!

ADSO for branch military intelligence and detail infantry. Although some of you can't understand how these two go together for my DS this is the perfect combination as he sees himself transitioning during his twenties.

Congratulations to your son. Start saving for socks.

My son is an MSII, so Branching isn't quite on his radar yet... But his BTN released their info this morning via Facebook.

In his company, 16 out of 16 got AD. But what is most interesting is they had one Cadet that got branched Cyber. According to the post there where only 15 cyber cadets this year.

This is a great combination for anyone. Combat arms branch first and then go to a support branch should be required of everyone that goes support. It provides them a much greater appreciation of what the combat arms soldier's life is all about and why the support branches are so critical to them. Might make it a little tough to fill the 2LT jobs in the support branches:thumb:
