AROTC Board 2

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! My DD got a 4-yr at USC and Wake Forest but only a 3 yr at Washington & Lee. Frankly, I am confused about what to do next and why just 3 of the 7 schools she had on her list were mentioned. I do know that now she has to get acceptance but I thought that the way it worked was that she received the scholarship then went down the list of her choices to find a college that would accept her. With the two schools with 4yr scholarships, should she contact both at the same time about the scholarship or one at a time? She has been accepted at her 7th choice college, but that wasn't listed in the award list. Can she transfer the scholarship their if the others don't work out? To quote Vinny Barbarino, "I am so confused."
She will have 30 days to make a choice. Each cadet ( I will now call her cadet) is usually offered 3 choices. The offers are based on portal choices and availability of ROTC scholarship slots at the school. There is a way to transfer the scholarship. Transferring to a school in the same Brigade is much easier than switching brigades due to the money. She can contact anyone she wants to talk about the school and the ROTC program. Do some research as some schools offer incentives to ROTC scholarship winners like free room and board or maybe even giving them a scholarship for the 4th year if they are a 3 yr AD.

I won a three year to my number one and three and a four year to my number two. Does anyone know if you can transfer the 4 year scholarship to the three year schoool?

You would be taking a crap shoot. You would have to accept the 4 year, then apply for a transfer. If not approved, you would then either have to go to the 4 yr, or go to another school without a scholarship. A lot of times it boils down to which brigade the schools are in, the number of slots at the school you are trying to transfer to and money.

You would need to make the transfer request to Cadet Command. There are instructions in the portal for transfer requests. Congrats on your scholarship!

For those who have been updated to a Winner status there is still work to be done. First congratulations to all those who received a scholarship offer and hang in there to those still waiting.

Next up comes the Dodmerb hurdle, start getting all your medical ducks in a row. You would be surprised what can trigger a DQ or a Remedial. Make sure you have a good handle on your medical history so you can get things filled out and set your appointments as soon as possible. This will leave you time if there are any speed bumps along the way.

Make sure you continue to work out and keep doing push ups and sit ups. Look up what the Army regulations are for both and follow it closely. Keep running, especially if this is a week point, make sure you can meet the required time for the 2 mile run. Every year there are more perspective cadets that fail their first APFT which delays the tuition payment and pits a hold on any stipend until you pass and contract, and it's not paid retro active.

Right now you are still a perspective cadet, the same as anyone joining ROTC with or without a scholarship. You still have to complete medical, the APFT, fill out a load of paperwork, complete a 104R, and get contracted by the Battalion before you become a contracted cadet.

Enjoy this moment but just be aware that you have just left the blocks and have a ways to go before you finish the race.

Guess a 29 ACT doesn't get you very far these days

As Renegade mentioned, the SAT/ACT is only part of the equation. Try to avoid comparing stats, especially when they just list a GPA and Tests Scores, that doesn't give a full picture. You will see some that received an offer that had a much lower score but without seeing the whole application and reading the interview, you will have no idea what went into getting the offer.

The second board, especially this one since it was delayed, has the largest number of new applicants to select from. All these new applicants were added to a revised OML which can take a person that just missed the first board and lower them far enough so they don'r receive an offer on the second board. The third board will have fewer new applicants which can help the chances of those that did not get an offer this board.

Hang in there and best of luck, there are still a lot of offers left to be awarded on the third board.

Did they leak over to friday on first board? Or were all released at the same time.

If it follows how things happened on previous boards, they dump them all at one time, although this is Cadet Command we're taking about so anything is possible.

Folks are trying to give solace to those who did not receive offers. Ultimately it is a mystery, and there is still a plan for your life. There are many paths to military service, and being an officer. Some of you may benefit from not passively waiting on the third board only. There are many different opportunities out there. The internet is a marvelous library of knowledge. Seek and you will find.

Thank you to those who created and maintain this forum! Best wishes to all!

Your school Choices are about the same as my DS. No UT Chatt but U of Arkansas instead. He is also nominated to USMA. He is strongly considering OLE MIss and UT Knox. Also accepted to VMI and Citadel .

I am a winner from the first board. My top three schools were Citadel, UTK, and UNG. Tough choice to make between the Citadel and UTK. UTK was kind enough to offer for me to have my PMS interview there. By the deadline, I accepted the Citadel. I am very pleased by my choice. Great plan B. I will be at the February 6-7th Knob Overnight at the Citadel. I am still waiting on West Point. I have two nominations right now.

Such good news- my son got awarded a 3 year scholarship today!!! But it wasn’t for his top choice school where he has been admitted Early Decision.

He is going to American University- anyone know what are his odds they will let him transfer it? Process?
