AROTC Board News - Scholarship!!!

Thanks all! Everything says received except medical. dashboard say completed. Just wanted to make sure he was good.

Thank you all for being so kind to my DS, Strength & Honor! We are SPEECHLESS & soooooooo PROUD!!!!!

My school

I checked my portal this morning and it showed that I received the scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. If it's true about the the alphabetically listed schools, this truly is my only offer. This doesn't make much sense though because it is my only out-of-state choice and it is not the least academically competitive.

Either way, I'm excited to be a Tennessee Volunteer!

Last year our son was offered scholarships to 4 or 5 schools. The school showing on his portal was not first alphabetically or his first choice (which he was offered). The one on his portal was, interestingly, the only one that was a 3 yr; the other 4 schools were all 4 yr offers. Try not to read the tea leaves. Just be patient and enjoy knowing that you are one of a select few!

My point is wait for the letter! Or, perhaps, a call from the school's ROO. That's what happened in my son's case. A couple of days after his portal notification but days before the letter arrived, the ROO from his #1 school called him and told him he was being offered a 4 year. Once you get the letter you may have several more options.

Congrats to your son and his parents! I'm a proud mom, too, and it's hard to contain myself! The forum is fun (especially since we're holding back a little with friends and family until we have more details) - it's like a posting party! :shake:

I am having trouble with patience at this point.....sports and band are over and I have NOTHING to distract me!!! Our mail comes by noon, so I know if that letter arrives I will take it to school and have DS pulled out of class to open it.....maybe! So hoping it comes Wednesday so we have it before Thanksgiving!

Haha -- I totally get that! It's so awesome to get that news and then jump around the house screaming, but then funny to hold it all back when company drops by.

Try knitting or Christmas shopping!

DS is my youngest. I have 3 friends who also have their youngest leaving for college next year. As we sat at a sports banquet last night we were discussing the need for a hobby to take the place of running around after the boys. I suggested knitting and it didn't go over well!!!!

Well played on the SATs. Harvard loves to brag about how many kids with 2400 SAT scores it rejects.

scholarship notification

2 questions:

Do you only find out about your scholarship via email? Is there a chance you may find out via regular mail?

If you are not awarded a scholarship from the first board, is your application automatically rolled over to the second board?

Thank you

You will find out via regular snail mail if you received a scholarship, but probably via email or even the portal first. Be sure to check spam/junk mail folders as well as your mail server may stick it there. If you are not awarded a scholarship by a board you are automatically reboarded for the next board.
