Best Military Movies?

These may not be considered outstanding war movies, but I've enjoyed them and seen all of them more than once.

Guadalcanal Diary - A propaganda film made during WWII. Gives a good perspective of how Americans felt about the Japanese during the war.

Too Late the Hero - Michael Caine and Cliff Robertson
30 Seconds over Tokyo - Van Johnson
None but the Brave - Clint Walker and Frank Sinatra
Take the High Ground - Richard Widmark and Karl Malden
Hell in the Pacific - Lee Marvin
To Hell and Back - Starring as himself, Medal of Honor Winner Audie Murphy

and I'm going to admit it, but I bust up laughing everytime I watch "Kelly's Heroes"

"We got our own ammunition, it's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes... pretty pictures. Scares the hell outta people!"

"...always with the negative waves!"

Hey DevilDog...The Patriot was loosely based on "The Swamp Fox" who was actually a real person during the revolutionary war. So not entirely fiction.

If I remember right it was based on the lives of 3 people during the Revolutionary War. It was a great movie.

I love the last battle when Mel Gibson takes the American Flag and runs at the British.

Hubby says The Bridge at Remagen, The Pacific (the HBO series that accompanies Band of Brothers), and The Beast (the story of a Soviet tank crew in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the 80's).

Someone may have already mentioned this, but "The Red Badge of Courage" is good also.

Has anyone mentioned restrepo yet? It's sad, but very good. It's about a platoon in OEF - Afghanistan.
