You know...believe it or not...
What I really wanted for my birthday was a slice of my mother's pound cake! She always made that for me for my birthday and I really love it!
Imagine my surprise when I got my mail on my birthday and there was a slip to pickup a box...I went to the window, got my box (it was HUGE) and took it across the terrazo to my room in CS-34.
I opened it up...there's this huge lawn/leaf bag in it and it smells like popcorn (my other most favorite snack food). I open the bag: it's FILLED with freshly popped popcorn, salted the way I like it...and a note: "Dig deeper" it says.
So I did...and I found a block of aluminum foil...wrapped around a pound cake!!!!!
Mom had made one and shipped it to me; dad "made" the packing material; about 15 gallons of fresh popcorn!
Needless to say, my roomies/classmates and I ate well...
I received a B Day pound cake every year for 31 years. It always brought back a great feeling/memory. And at the academy, it was VERY welcome!
YUMMY!!!
