C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

Well now it's REALLY official. My DS's BFE arrived today. Somehow in the back of my mind there was some slim tiny chance the phone call was a mistake. He had about 2 minutes to revel in his accomplishment before leaving for baseball practice. I on the other hand have looked at it let's say more than once. So damn happy for him.

I respect everyone on this forum but I find it a bit erry that the majority of responses are from parents. Being a child from an anti-military family that was a bit reluctant to help me with the application process I have an entirely different view. From going to my MOC nominee reception and other things like that it seems like some parents care more about the service academies than their kids. Can someone please shed some light on this? Since this forum seems to be about informing others about your situation so you can better predict yours I will share a bit about myself. I am an Eagle Scout, member of OA, have been Scout of the Year and Patrol Leader of the Year aswell as SPL of my troop. My troop has almost 80 members and has been a unit of excellence for over twenty consecutive years so it is a handful. I have a varsity letter in wrestling and am also on the "competitive" as opposed to "development" team of my school's ultimate frisbee which is taken fairly seriously in my area. I am class rank 28 of 340 at a public high school (not magnet or charter or anything) and my school has produced 7 ivy leaguers, 1 U Chicago, 3 Duke and a morehead-cain scholar through early decision and action alone so it is one of the more competitive public high schools. My SAT scores are 720 reading and 770 math. I have taken many AP classes and well over a dozen honors classes including Calc BC and AP Chem. I am Vice President of French club and a member of several other clubs and have over 100 hours of volunteering through varying activities. I am triple qualified and have a nomination but have no heard anything yet through the mail or my MOC. I live in NC.

You are assuming that there is an even distribution of parents and DS/DDs on this forum. My observation is that this forum is mostly parents trying to make sense of this whole mysterious process. I think that might be the "light" you are looking for.

With the data you supplied, I am surprised you do not have an appointment yet.

Mail Box stalking is OVER! BFE came today!!! DS is home on spring break and was able to get the mail. He just sent us a photo of the certificate. My husband and I work at the same school and just met each other running down the hallway as we both got the text at the same time. I am soooo excited for him. For those of you still waiting, don't give up hope and best of luck to you!
Congratulations to all!! That must have been fun, to share the news together at work.

Is it correct to assume that USNA tries to get most decisions out before their Spring Break which starts March 20th? Also because the Ivies announce their regular decision acceptances on March 31 and a lot of the time are competing for similar students? This is our first time through this process....DS has a four -year NROTC scholarship to Univ of Penn but we don't know yet if he will be admitted there yet either. Lots of anxious waiting but so very proud of my son for his accomplishments in making it this far..Congrats to all the 2019 BFE's received !!!

Yeah a rumor circulated around my school today that BFEs and TWEs for my region are now in the mail so we will see.

Just a clarification, USNA Spring break starts tomorrow after last obligation and ends on 03/22.

Congrats to those who have rec'd the wonderful BFE. We are still waiting and hoping.
No MOC call or email yet, mail carrier has come and gone-nothing on our end.

Keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best for all those still waiting.

Best of luck to you and yours. Stay positive as there is still plenty of time.

Congratulation…
I hope Friday the 13th turns out lucky for myself and others as well. The big problem that I have is that I’m being pressured to accept or decline an athletic scholarship to a D1 school before the deadline of them offering it to other candidates. The NCAA rules are crushing.
Keeping the Faith

Accept the D1 scholarship as plan B. You can always walk away from it if you get an appointment. You have to take care of you. Lots of students accept an NROTC offer while they wait for the answer from a SA.

Good morning, mailbox stalkers. Your spirit mission :bleh2:, should you choose to accept it, involves the extraction of information and recovery of an overdue item designated "BFE." You should be cautioned that your mailman is highly capable and will resort to any means necessary to alter the name on the documents to a USMA candidate who failed to apply to USNA. You have twenty-four hours to recover "BFE." As always, should you be caught the super mods will disavow all knowledge of your actions.

Gotta love MI. :)

May BFE's be plentiful this weekend. Cheers, my fellow stalkers!
