Go check out the last two years of waitlist threads. It seemed that quite a few came off for class of ‘26, maybe not as many last year. Each year is so different. Being on the waitlist is a challenge in patience, grace and positivity. You the applicant and you the parent may have moments of frustration or of hope. I don’t wish the waitlist on anyone. Been there, done that. DD walked away with an appointment, SAF friend’s DD walked away with Foundation, others walked away with a TWE. There is no way to know your chances, you just have to wait. I’m here for any one of you who wants to talk about it .

Double-checking Plan B is in place and holding off SIRs and deposits until the very last minute. Losing a bit of money if the appointment comes thru will be worth it, right?

We were never given a reason as to why that happened. Not gonna lie--April 15th to May 16th was rough! We paid (and lost) a $1000 housing deposit to Plan B. Best plan of action is to do everything you need to do to secure Plan B and don't give up hope in the meantime.

Ouch! We found a caveat in my sons (also a WL) contract, that a ‘non-student’ cannot live in university housing. So since ours accepted his appointment, the contract was void, bc he was no longer an enrolled student at the school. We did loose the 30$ application fee (the 250$ registration fee was refunded bc it was the height of covid and that what they did as most classes were going to be online).

Applying for commitment/deposit extensions at plan B;’s. WL will only prove to be better than a TD if it results in a wasted deposit.

Deposit extensions are a thing this year due to FAFSA debacle. Check with your Plan B’s and use FAFSA as your excuse. My buddy Murphy tells me my DD will get taken off wait list the day after I pay the college deposit.

She still really wants USNA over anything else . . . trying to be patient as we explore all possibilities for plans B-?. Also still waiting to hear back on NROTC scholarship . . . last board for that is this week. If she doesn't make it off the list, and gets the NROTC, it's Embry-Riddle bound with her presidential scholarship + NROTC . . . or is it USMMA? Difficult when they've done all they can and everything else in in the hands of others.

We keep telling her that this is a great introduction to adulthood . . . hurry up and wait.
