Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hi CristalLee. There's another USNA appointment from TX-14. I don't know what kind of nomination he got though. He's a recruited athlete from our same HS.

Hmmm... makes me wonder. Our MOC had an academy forum this weekend and also published his "official" congratulatory statement on his website to the Three appointees, one from West Point (athlete & smart), one to USAFA (athlete, football star at small town high school - no mention of grades in interview I saw), and one to USNA (smart kid, non-athletic) - not saying that the athlete's weren't smart too. But I have no idea if they are recruited or not (or if they got charged to the MOC or not), the interview I saw with the USAFA said that he has been in contact with the USAFA for 16 months. When I spoke with MOC rep, she said that DS was highly competitive and encouraged him to apply again next year and they'd be happy to nominate him again (probably - there are never guarantees).

As much as i've mostly given up... it's still March and I can't help to be a little hopeful each time I open the mailbox. Until I get that TWE - i'll probably have a glimmer of hope in the back of my mind.

Even if your DS doesn't get appointed this year, and there is still time, there is nothing that will stop a determined young man. And he's got to be pretty determined to have got this far. There's still the rest of March and next year as well. Not to mention that some of those TWEs have prep school offerings. Keep the faith!

or perhaps more apropo: wrap yourself in bubblewrap! I can see the local newspaper story "Local Air Force Academy Candidate Mom wraps herself in bubblewrap prior to stalking mailbox"

I was thinking that would be a great addition to the mattress!
ha ha, don't feel bad, I may need a straitjacket. I am trying to convince myself it won't really be resolved until May, so that any sooner notification will be a welcome surprise.....

Zoomie, if you wear an outfit like that be sure to post pix...and one of the mailman's face when you go out to check the mail.

That would be good, mother and son both in bubble wrap!

Here is what this year's BFEs look like for anyone interested:

This particular BFE was received by a NWP Falcon who is also a bluechip athlete.
re-posting this for those who may have missed it earlier. This is what you are looking for.

NWP? Bluechip athlete? I hate to ask, but what does these terms mean?

NWP stands for Northwest Prep and bluechip just means that particulate athlete was recruited for his/her particular sport. Athletes and some preppies were some of the first people to get appointments this year it looks like.

NWP? Bluechip athlete? I hate to ask, but what does these terms mean?

NWP=North West Prep (Northwest Prep)
Bluechip Athlete=An athlete that the Academy really wants! I am sure there are other responses to that, you can also google the term and get the true definition (I had too )

haha, still looks exactly the same. Brings back some good memories. Good Luck!

the term "blue chip" comes from poker. A Typical set of poker chips includes white, red, and blue chips, with tradition dictating that the blues are highest in value.

Football Appointment

I found out yesterday that a young man who is a HS senior in our state received his appointment on 1 Feb to play football at USAFA. I was very happy for him, but just want my son, who is not a recruited athlete, to have the opportunity to go too. So my BP and heart rate are up each time I am on this forum, on the application website, or at the mailbox!!

Amen sister! I'm in the *same* exact place as you... While it weighs heavy on my heart - I have not given up all hope and neither should you!
