Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

..."yeah, a little too quiet".....

Hmm, seems like most of Saturday's mail should have been delivered by now.......

I believe there are 240 slots at the AFA Prep School, 50 of which are allowed for LEAD applicants (enlisted). I understand, however, that last year (Prep Class of 2012) was the first year that they filled all 50 LEAD slots. This means there are approximately 190 slots available to other applicants each year.

The AF has been pushing for harder for more LEAD applicants this year. Lts are visiting tech schools to talk about the AFA and there are more briefings with information about the AFA from the education centers. I would expect the slots to be completely filled this year.

DS received a TWE from USCGA today. It is okay because USAFA is where he really wants to be but it does bring to the forefront what might be coming from USAFA. I know everything will work out just the way it is supposed to but gosh, this waiting is so stressful.

Hang in there. I think we will start to see larger numbers of BFEs in about a week, and then running for about 4 weeks. I don't believe many TWEs will be sent out until after the BFEs for Prep and Falcon are sent, so the TWEs may not get sent until May. So we are closer to the beginning of "March Madness", but we still have a long way to go before it is over.......Pardon me for using Yogi Berra's cliche, but "It ain't over, 'til it's over!"

I realize that this year may be different. But just for reference, last year DS received the dreaded TWE in April and then received the Falcon letter in May. Just saying that I would expect TWEs first followed by Falcon BFEs.

Thank you so much for this information! It is great that there are so many with prior experience with the process that are willing to share knowledge.

I guess the sequence is: 1. send out all BFEs for AFA, 2. send out TWEs for AFA, 3. send out BFEs for Prep and Falcon.

Hi -- I just heard that between the time the decisions are made by the USAFA board, the MOCs are given 7 days to notify their appointees before the BFEs are mailed out. That may help in planning the mailbox and telephone stalking. BTW, i've been officially banned by my daughter from stalking the mailbox...

If this is true, then the majority of appointment decisions will be made the next two Mondays, in order for the BFEs to be sent out the final week of March. I'm keeping my fingers crossed :thumb:

I don't blame her.. The next two weeks for me are very busy, and I would be angry if my parents were to find out before me. The mail is mine!!

What if we get the appointment under the presidential nom and not through the MOC? As a candidate, I'm quite tired of stalking the mailbox and DODMERB but it's become second nature to me now that it's hard to not check it

I recently spoke with someone at Dodmerb who said that they caught on to candidates finding out about an acceptance or declination based on status changes on Dodmerb so they have since changed that and all applicants will not be able to find out through Dodmerb before the candidate is notified by the school. I guess I won't be wasting my time logging on to Dodmerb every dang hour...

Sad... don't even know what DODMERB is. So what is DODMERB? I thought that was the medical board.

But y'all have a good week! We are headed for a week of skiing during Spring Break. It will be good to get away from the mailbox.

Department of Defense Medical evaluation review board. You are correct it is the medical board. Some were able, previously, to check their status on this site. Looks like they got wise to our prying eyes :yllol:

just talked to LO and he said that the academy will be sending out the majority of appointment notifications on March 26.

oh! that just shot me in the heart, explains why though, I don't feel that bad anymore. Thanks!

The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB).

Have fun skiing!

OMG!

If that's true, that's another two weeks of stalking! OMG!
I hope after all that waiting there will be good news. Then the wait will be worth it.

My heart just sank a little because I figured they would go out around the same time as the AFROTC scholarship notifications. These next to weeks will be going by SLOW for me... :frown:

I estimate that approximately 250 offers of appointment have been sent out to date.

"respective candidate appointment information will not be provided until the later part of March and final notifications will not be completed until the first week of April."
(copied from the Application Page)

This means that we can likely expect around 800 offers of appointment within the next 4 weeks.

I am sorry, but I find it difficult to believe they will wait until the last week of March to send out all 800 or so appointments. If final notifications are to be completed the first week of April, it makes much more sense to begin sending next week. JMHO, FWLIW, WDIK

Please do not be offended by my comments, but I don't believe that any one ALO is privy to special information in this regard. We have at least one ALO that is a regular on this forum and I have not heard him make a similar statement.

You make a good point that they will be sent out before the last week of march and I agree with you. My guess is that they will be sent out in a pattern reflecting a normal model with the median somewhere around the 14th or the 21st.
