Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Not sure, but I think they are sent out at the end of the mass mailing and after the TWE's, so probably early/mid April....? Again, NOT sure.

so I finally called the staffer for my MOC and they said that they have only received notification of 1 appointee and that they don't have any information about anyone else. Also i'm from illinois, district 16

So this guy walks into a coffee shop with a large frog growing from his head, he stops in front of the Barista and starts to study the menu. The Barista can't take her eyes off the frog on his head and after a couple of moments pass in silence she can't contain herself any longer. So she asks "if you don't mind sir, how did that happen"??? The frog replies "Well I don't know, it started off as a mole on my butt"...

BDummmp Dumpp!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I tried....

False Alarm

BFE came in the mail, but it was the academic catalog that I requested along with some advertising/promotion stuff (2012 Calendar, an AF pennant, a promotional C-D and a booklet about the Aviation/flight programs). Then I got a TWE from my MOC, but that's to see if my MOC could push/advocate/appeal for my file for Annapolis. As my neighbor, who's DS is a 4class cadet, says, "No news is good news" Congrats to everyone who has received an offer!!:shake:

Last year they went out in late April. But they could be later this year as it seems like admissions is farther behind this year than others, probably just because of the cuts.

I have a friend (AD) who manages 6 of the 13 programs that the AF recruits for and she told me that USAFA did not meet their recruiting goal for the first time this year. She said that General Ayyar and General Rice have been in talks to figure out what to do. As far fetched as that sounds it kinda made sense to me when USAFA admissions (march 14th on FB) said that they had only "roughly 35%" of their slots filled. Either things have gotten that bad in the civilian world or USAFA is simply just making people wait too long. (Most people are getting offers from other universities and have to make a decision.)

Regardless if its true are not the good news is that there are still slots available so if you havent been denied by now thats probly a good thing. If it IS true then I still see it as a good thing for us bc USAFA will likely make some more "exceptions" to get those slots filled...

I love good news! Thank you! :thumb:

My DS is getting offers daily... every day by mail or email - we have an offer for "late admission application" or "free application" (probably something to do with the type 1 AFROTC scholarship). Today was a hand written letter from Texas Tech admissions office...

YorkieMom -

I thought of you today... we got a dish set (tea cups, saucers, plates, etc) with Yorkie's on them at the Base Thrift Shop where I volunteer at. I should have taken a picture! I will on Thursday!

I know it's pretty late for afrotc scholarship, but is there any way you know to apply for one? (idk what the types are)

thanks for any help much appreciated!

I think the deadline was 20 Jan 2012. Here's the website. There are three types 1, 2, & 7 (that I know of) - Type 1 is a full scholarship - type 2 is up to 18K (and you can pay the difference) - type 7 is up to 18K (you cannot pay the difference). Please jump in -if i'm wrong.

I'm not sure if this is true, but someone on the admission Facebook site said that he had called his counselor yesterday and she said only about 200 + of the appointments have been finalized. Could it be that this week is the week that the Academy sends out appointments to people who are filling MOC slots and that another wave of appointments from the NWL will come out soon after?

It just seems that everyone has different information. I don't really know what to believe right now!

I checked out the Official USAFA Acceptance page from last year and it seems that there were two waves in the BFEs. One which was like what we experienced last thursday and friday, and then one the following thursday and friday. There were a couple that trickled in after that. Feel free to search through the forums and post the link if you find that page. Good luck everyone!

Consider that the "two waves" are really just the extended notification process of a single event. The bulk of appointments were made mid last week and the MOC's were notified. Some MOC's chose to notify their appointees at the end of the week. Actual BFE's will be mailed this week and received at the end of the week. Notice that there were no BFE's received last week. This week will be the BFE mailing part of the communication process and the Forum will start lighting up again this Thursday through next Monday as USPS delivers the golden BFEs. After reading through this Forum over the past two years, I have seen names and dates change but the process grinds away in a fairly consistent way.
