Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

What's an NWP? Is there a list of acronyms anywhere?

2016USAFA - there are many options for prep schools. NWP is just one of them. The others have different characteristics. Check out the list of schools from the

Falcon Foundation website : http://www.falconfoundation.org/

There is a list of prep schools that they work with. Some are full year, NWP is 1/2 year and then 1/2 year at a local college. Some are immersed in military training, others are not.

If you are not given the opportunity to USAFA prep school, or a Falcon Scholarship (yet), you can still enroll like michigander did as a "freeagent". Get good grades, get recs from the school and reapply. Not the same opportunity as Falcon Scholars, but it will prepare you for your doolie year and give you a very credible application.

Good Luck!

I wish I could check the mail or my status page! I am in Beijing right now and the great firewall of China blocks the admissions page and I haven't been able to get my mail since last thursday. Still praying for good news when I get home

Being a non-traditional applicant. I'm pretty curious to what you civilians are planning on doing...This time my senior year most students had to have picked schools by now. Are some of y'all putting in deposits for other schools and just planning on ditching that money for usafa?

Anyone else out there from CT, I have seen very, very few from Connecticut, my class mate got his appointment 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting - stalking - checking....

Yeah, I'm from CT, district 5. No word yet, but just like you, my classmate got her appointment 3/23... Bad Sign for us, I think :(

My plan C (currently the one I'm leaning towards) is local. So I don't have any deposits I have to place for housing or anything, because I can commute from home. If USAFA says, "Hey, sorry about the delay. Here's that BFE we've been meaning to send you all year." I'll just call in and say, "I'm going to have to decline that scholarship you offered, because I'm going to Colorado Springs!"

Also, was it just me or did the forums just go down for about 15-30 minutes?

Haven't done it yet, but its getting close to time for most to turn their paperwork in. May 1 is a pretty common deadline I think.

I have a Type 2 AFROTC and some other Texas A&M scholarships, but like you LFry, no deposit or other scholarship acceptance is going to keep me from going to USAFA if I get the chance.

LFry you stated you are going Plan C, just out of curiosity why did you toss Plan B?

Plan B hasn't responded, and I literally don't have the money to place on something that isn't a surefire deal. Plan C did respond and then gave me a deadline. The deadline approached and I had to go with what I could afford. (I can afford free.) I'm not exactly financially blessed if you catch my drift.

:: I was at fault in a minor fender bender that resulted in a nice sized dent in my pocket. I am extremely against debt, and I refuse to go deeper into the hole paying deposits to, and then maybe/maybe not attending, a college that I can't even afford in the first place.

airman,

Son has an appointment (last week), but we are still continuing with execution of plan B that we started a little over a month ago. Reason for execution of plan B was to maintain receipt of full tuition award at Auburn and also if something were to happen during BCT.

On June 7 son will register for AU fall classes and we will officially withdraw from AU on A-day at USAFA. Never hurts to have a little insurance. Only depsoit we have paid is for the official acceptance to AU, but no housing deposits since he was going to live off campus anyway. Good luck!

airman,

The common theory here is to keep Plan B in place even with an appointment because injuries happen.

I did not receive any news from USAFA today, but received $26,000 from my plan C! Also, the fact that I haven't received a TWE yet makes me happy.

Congrats on your scholarship. Monday DS received a scholarship to his Plan B. No TWE here--that makes us happy too:smile:
