DD has molded cleats that she'd planned on bringing. Are they really needed for BCT or can she wait to have them after Parent's weekend?

Did they INSTRUCT your DD to bring them to BCT? If not, leave them at home. If so, bring them. Easy Peasy.

It was optional on the checklist. She has them, but if not needed for BCT, then she can leave them at her sponsor's house

I'd bring them. You'll want them if you do a BCT intramural that requires them (flag football, soccer, etc etc.) I did tennis so I've never touched my cleats but having them wasn't a big deal.

DD did not take any during inprocessing in 2010(they were optional). She never needed them and we never took a pair to her. She never bought a pair during her time at USAFA. I believe it is personal preference. Your appointee will manage just fine without them during BCT.
