Mom, I can't tell you how seriously I mean this: RELAX. Your soon to be basic will have things all figured out in no time. If s/he wants a nightie or a woobie from mom, s/he'll ask for it. Send NOTHING with Johnny or Susie that is not on the acceptables list. Send nothing unless specifically requested during BCT (OK, later I will tell you all about how to get around the no pictures rules, etc.
Your cadet should have NOTHING extra to haul around during I-Day, and trust me, she will never ever want that special attention which would come from Mom sending her pajamas during BCT, or even, before Recognition.
Now is the time to prepare yourself Mom and DAd, not just Johnny & Susie, that this is a new and different life they've chosen. Not children at all any more, and not at Flagship U. Check out some of the older posts here just on this subject.
Not criticizing at all. Many of us have gone through the same feelings you are having now, especially that desire to make sure your child is comfortable, well fed, etc., just as you have done for the past 18 years. It's a whole new ballgame now. With new referees.
