Competitive Method

Yeah but that's not so nice! You're only assured if you get the CONDITION (how ironic) of having a nom...

Maybe you're right NChopeful, haven't noticed that yet.

Either way, I'm going for an Appointment, LOA isn't my goal
(thanks, Luigi)

Ark - why d'you think that?

well, of course! Although it certainly lifted a weight off my shoulders, I know I'm not done.

p.s. what do you mean by condition? I'm confused:frown:!

Well the LOA is a Letter of Assurance, meaning you've got it in the bag, IF you fulfill the condition - say passing the DoDMERB, raising your CFA scores, keeping your grades up, getting a nom, ... [that's how I understood it... b/c otherwise you'd just get the appointment in the mail!]

That's what I mean by condition

So you have LOA? (if I'm understanding right?)
Congrats!!!!

Yep! My "condition" then is getting a nom... which, if i get any, will come at the end of this month

Congrats!!!
Well then, seems like you're gonna have a happy Christmas :shake:
enjoy

Katie, why'd I think what? I assumed every other condition was met, if that's what you're asking.

NChopeful, congratulations on your LOA, hope you get that nomination.

thanks guys! Congrats az, and good luck katie! (i hope my assumptions are right)

Oh gosh yes. There are 4 plebes from our Congressional District. Although I know that 3 did have other noms (service connected) as well as the Congressional nomination.

What happens is they get to be put into a pool of other candidates with Congressional noms. The academy can pick out of this pool until the class is filled.
While there are some Congressional districts that are very competitive, there are also some who don't get any applicants in a given year.

does that mean if district A has no qualified applicants and district B has 2 very qualified applicants that the one from District B can shift into being used from district A's slot?

No. They go into one big nationwide pool. They do no use another district's slot.

PS - it's generally better to begin a new thread than to bring up a very old thread and tack onto that. (less confusing for all involved)
