January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

How do you check DODMERB?

the website I have bookmarked is: https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/default.asp,
hope I have typed it correctly - let me know if it doesn't work, on my computer I have go against "microsoft/internet explorer" wisdom and go to the website despite "problems with their sercuity certificate"....

DS has not seen a change on his online, but he did just call (the first time we've used the phone #) and he was asked to leave a message, which he did.
DS is also dodmerb AROTC qualified...but as LMULLEN stated a while back, that is was encouraging that some prospects received Dodmerb physicals prior to being offered scholarship, it was not a done deal until you see the letter in the mail.....

GO JACK YOU ROCK!!! Glad someone had a better way of getting him the info!

My son just got the same thing with the scholarship status 1-800 number, leave a message, and they will call you back. In past it has been "You have been selected for interview" is this good news, I hope...it is pins and needles for sure.

It doesn't find his SSN and DOB. When would the DODMERB get his details.

The time frame for DODMERB getting new offers names has been given as from 2-7 days on other threads - gojack will proabaly beat me again, but his info. is amazing!! DS has been DODMERB qualified since 12/10, but I don't know if it really means anything...good luck.

Initial Set up account/check qualified status here: (DoD site)
https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/Default.asp

After you receive DoDMERB letter...
Schedule your appointments with Concorde Tricare here:
https://www.dodmets.com/AppLogIn.aspx

Last AROTC board, the status site went down for a couple days.
When it came back up, status's were continuously updated for about 7-10 days

Got the college offer letter 1 week later...all pressure off...Roll with the flow

About a week (or 2?) later DodMERB's site went down for a couple days, when it came back online - status was up on day 1 (for us)

Got DoDMERB letter the following week, scheduled appointments - the following Friday
did both eye and physical, another week for Tricare to send in to DoDMERB

We had a little confusion over a 'remedial' that Mr Mullen straightened out,
Got a 'Medically Qualified' letter shortly after that

Mr Mullen said he was trying to change the timing of the system... Who knows this time.

Well hope the routing of the calls wasn't a cliche. They will have a lot of messages if it was.

It's their fault -- shouldn't mess with the site or the phone when they darn well know the alarm will sound with every little flick of the screen or dial tone... at least now we know just how quickly we can all dial/type!!:shake:

I called the scholarship status number and was told to leave a message with name, bumber, and last four digits of SSN. Is everyone who calls getting this? Or are some getting the "You have been selected for an interview" thing?

For all those waiting for any small bit of information that might signal that a change in status is coming...I feel your pain. For those who were ready for the first board and are now waiting for the second board results, well, I can only imagine.

I'll share a bit of what it was like around our house. My son was ready for the first board. One of the ROO's called him just before the board met on Oct. 25th and said that he would call him around the 27th and let him know what he had heard. Well, we never got a call and my poor son was checking the status regularly, we later found out the ROO was new and really had no idea how long the process could take, no fault of his. We kept checking, one week went by, then almost 2 weeks. Finally my son said he was just getting tired of being stressed about it and stopped checking, as did I.

About a week later I arrived early at my office and for some reason decided to check this board to see if anyone had heard anything, it had been a week since we had checked. This was the morning of Nov. 15th. I about fell off my chair when I saw a post by Clarkson saying "Let the games begin" and I saw a thread started by someone who's status had just changed.

I think I mistyped our log in code out of nerves about 3 times before I finally logged in. There it was, the golden phrase "You may check your Dodmerb Status" I checked our email and there was an email from the ROO at his #1 school saying he had received the scholarship....by the way don't expect that call, they were later told not to inform anyone until it became official, so I don't think they will be calling like that this time. I texted my son at school, I'm sure everyone was wondering why he was dancing in the halls.

I guess my point to all this is that it can really consume you, the waiting and checking status. There were the same glitches during the first board as well. One thing to keep in mind is that Cadet Command has now just finished moving to Ft. Knox. I'm sure this has been a difficult move and they are struggling to get everything up and going, it might just make the updates take a little longer.

The time from when the board met on Oct. 25th to the first status changes on Nov. 15th was exactly 3 weeks. If this board follows suit that means the first notifications of any status change won't happen until around Jan. 25th about a week and a half from now.

Remember, nothing is final until you receive the official letter and you see the status page say that he has been selected and it shows the school list of selected schools.

The best advise I can give is to take a break for about a week, I know how hard that is to do, it was hard for us. Plan something or some event that takes your family's mind off this whole mess. It can sure drive you crazy.

We have been through this agonizing process twice now, our first son applied in the Fall of 2007. The system was different then, the individual batallions made the selections which made getting information a lot quicker and easier. Now that the whole process is centralized we all wait togeher and are at the whim of Cadet Command..Oh Joy.

My younger son was actually a bit surprised when he was offered the first round. He was told by 3 of the ROO's that he would probably be a second round selection. They told us that most of the applicants to the USMA also applied for the scholarship as a plan B in case they did not receive an appointment. A lot of the first round selections are still waiting for appointments, those that receive them will decline the scholarship leaving more slots for everyone else. The stats of the first round selections were high, again still surprised our son was selected, from what I have seen reading on this board there should be a lot of smiling faces come the 25th.

So hang in there the best you can, take a breath and back away from everything a few days, if nothing else just to save your sanity, it helped for us.

Good luck to everyone.

This was great to read....thank you for the advise. As I Mom, I have been consumed with the checking too. My son is a varsity basketball player, student body vice-president, 3.66 GPA, 3 AP classes student, and works on the yearbook amongst many other things. He has applied for AROTC, and has already been accepted to all of his schools. I think this whole experience has been more difficult on me than him....We want the best for our kids. His level head under pressure is certainly an asset. Anyway, all the best to all of you out there who are waiting

I completely agree, Jclepp you hit the nail on the head!! DS is too busy doing what he does(just like dmlhal's DS) and is just kinda relaxed most of the time. I felt bad that I even told him about the glitch with the phone today-he was home 1/2 day due to mid-terms. I knew in my head & heart it was too soon (25th should be the soonest not just from Oct board, but last years boards too were about the same amount of time), but since so many other things seem to follow no rhyme or reason(like the handful of prospects getting DodMERB physicals prior to scholarship offer) that its easy to get caught up when the screen at CC site blinks too many times ...the phone was cool, however, we had not know about this until late last week. But alas, we will only know FOR ABSOLUTE TRUTH about an offer when that envelope arrives sometime early February...God help my mailperson -- I swear I will not accost them at the curb everyday...:yllol:

Thanks again to all contributing on this thread -- this is exactly why I wanted to start this for us all, support and somewhere its okay to be a little crazy:jump1:

January 14th

Well, today is another day.... hope everyone is going to try and stay busy, not lurk on the SA forums, CC status page and DodMERB page. DS has forgiven me for getting him all jazzed up yesterday, he had to study for AP Calc exam last night so he really couldn't dwell on AROTC. Wish his girlfriend wasn't out of town this weekend (long 4 days off for our school w/ MLK & a teacher in-service) so he might have a little too much time on his hands since today ends the semester so there's no homework this weekend either. I will find a "honey do" list for him and his Dad:shake:

Anyhow, take care everyone!

Prob a stupid question...but we take the dodmerb only if we get selected for a scholarship correct?

Prob a stupid question...but we take the dodmerb only if we get selected for a scholarship correct?

No question is stupid...wish the answer was more straight forward. In a perfect world, AROTC doesn't send your information to DodMERB/Concorde until you are selected for a scholarship. Now, in the real world they changed that for some unknown reason coming out of the October 2010 board and sent DodMERB physicals request to some AROTC applicants WITHOUT a scholarship having been offered. DS was one of these applicants. You will find references from other applicants that also applied to SAs that did DodMERB very early, like over last summer. So, I hope that answered the question. Who knows what will happen out of current board -- they may or may not send physical requests w/o scholarship offers again......

Saturday, off to work and DS opened an account here under the oh, so original name of Ohio2015Student - yes, I'll claim him even in cyber world. So hoping time is passing quickly for all of you too, how was sking with the little one? I've never tried to ski (Ohio doesn't have much to offer).
