March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

Was hoping to log on to find lots of activity on this board...I see the waiting continues. Has been more action on my DD's DoDMERB sight though. Another entry added dated 4/7 that says "Sent to Contractor". Hard not to hope something is going on...

Yeah, I think they were probably a little to distracted with the threat of government shut down and all... the latest indication were for early next week, we can only hope:thumb: IF CC reads our forum, please know we understand you are working at this as best allowed and personally, I am so relieved for all of you that no shut down will impact your families. This goes for all our federal and military famiies as well.

The first sign that your status has changed will show up on the GoArmy/Rotc Status page. The status will change from "You have been selected for an Interview" to "You may check your Dodmerb Status"

If your status changes that will be the first indication that you may have received the scholarship. It will take a few days before the ROO's at the schools you listed will be allowed to inform you.

The next change will be on the same status page and it will read "You have been Awared a Scholarship to the following Schools"

The final and official notification will come in the mail, it will list the school/schools the scholarship has been awarded to and what to do next.

Even though your status page may change it won't be official until you hear directly from one of the schools and you receive the letter in the mail. It is rare but sometimes the status may change and an award is not given, though everyone that has posted seeing their status page change received the scholarship so far.

Thank you. If we are selected for the scholarship, is there any training over the summer? Also, do ROTC cadets have to arrive at their school of choice before the other students?

Im sure ROO means the contact at the school of choice, but what does ROO officially stand for in this forum? tks

There is no official training over summer.

The best thing you can do is work on your Push Ups, Sit Ups and 2 mile Run so you are prepared for your PT Test when you get to school. The PT Test is one of the first things you will do, remember you need to pass the PT Test before your scholarship can kick in and before you can receive your book money and monthly stipend. So make sure you can pass it the first time.

Every batallion is different depending on your school as far as when they want you to be there. My son just had to be there the weekend before school started for a couple meetings and to get his uniform and equipment. Your batallion will let you know far in advance when to show up.
 
So, what is everyone planning to do this week, just in case.......

Anything before 4/15 is a gift, but Monday, the 11 would work out great!
 
Hoping that the status change will occur at midnight! That would be amazing...or bad, depending on the outcome! :eek:

Watching the grass grow, yes the snow is finally gone
Returning to school and counting down from 20 the number of days before graduation
Cheering the spring sports that start this week
Looking for summer jobs
Checking the status page 10,000 times an hour and then
Reading the SA forum to rejoice with those who have good news and hoping it's only good news

If I'm remembering right, the status changes started around 8-9 a.m. Ohio time. So don't wear out your finger thru the overnight hoping....:wink:

I've not heard anything denying or confirming the type of scholarships being awarded this round. It does make sense that the bulk of these awards may be 3 year ones.

Glad your grass is finally growing- our is on the second cut:eek:. Last day for Seniors isn't until end of May so DS has a while. Summer job for DS in the works:thumb: Resume polishing and job hunting for mom and dad, keeping DH busy with LOTS of honey do lists items(he's been laid off just over a week and MAKING ME CRAZY 'cause he's bored:rolleyes:) and absolutely hanging out with all of you for whatever, and even nothing, that may come this week. Knowing something will be better than the wondering......

Chin up guys, the week will be really long if we sit and hit refresh 24/7, what will be is gonna be, just hope for us all it ends up being the right "be":thumb:

I have butterflies in my stomache! I don't think I've ever had so much anxiety:)
& How wonderful and strange it feels to go through such an intense process with people whom I have never met! Thank you.
