March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

no status change yet:bang: I am feeling a bit upset right now. I have read others stats in the past that have received scholarships. I believe I have above those stats yet no scholarship offer. I have been board ready for all three now. I am curious if the decision for scholarships is based on "where" you want to go to school. Not sure if that is an accurate assumption. Can someone help shed some light on this? Please?

See Clarkson's earlier post today on his expectation for having scholarships at his private school. If you listed a lot of private schools and OOS public schools you will probably have lower odds of getting a scholarship than if you had listed less expensive in-state schools. So, yes, the schools you listed can impact your odds of getting a scholarship.

Thank you all for the information. I guess my frustration is coming to fruition. I have applied to 3 In-state schools. None of which have tuition anywhere near what you have quoted above. 11000 is about average. I am amazed that tuition of 5,400 was even possible now a days.

youtoo, I deleted my post b/c the post just after mine was more accurate and used fewer words :) Yes, it is amazing that LSU is so cheap. I'm sure there's a LONG story behind it... pun intended.

P.S. I'm fairly sure it took 2-3 days for the statuses (stati?) to change out of the 4 Jan. Board. Keep your hopes alive!

I will try my best. School, work, applying for other scholarships etc have been keeping me busy. Maybe I should channel my energies toward studying for the AP tests in May?

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I have been reading through the forum for quite some time and just now decided to create an account to let you all know that my status has changed on the website. I have received a scholarship offer. =]

can't say I am not dissapointed but I understand it is not over yet.

Don't give up just yet.

It took at least 3 days for all the awards to be posted for the last board.

This is just the beginning, they didn't start updating until mid day today.

It's close to the end of the business day at Ft. Knox, unless they are working late I would imagine there won't be much news the rest of the evening. I would expect things to light up come tomorrow morning considering they will have the whole day to post results.

We are in your location. Son called from his mother's home minutes ago that he checked the website and has been offered a slot (pending medical). What is so hard is that with the cutbacks the word from the ROTC at the University is that they had 1/3 less positions to offer this (2011) Fall compared to last (2010) Fall. So for example, 4 on the 1st board, 4 on the 2nd board, and so ONLY 2 for this last board when there would've been 4-5 without the recent spending/budget freeze. We also got the standardized DoDMERB forms this Monday with no other mail from the Army (just like the people posting from California)
Good luck everyone. Our fingers are crossed until all is completed and approved.

Quick question... The update on the Application Status website shows all the things that they have received as well as everything they did not. It shows that my "medical" was not received. I remember a LONG time ago, after I finished sending in my application, I got a letter saying that I will be contacted with information on how to set up my medical exam. Well, they never did. Is the Medical Exam a requirement that must be fulfilled before it reaches the board?

No, everyones status says Medical not recieved.

They do not check medical until after the scholarships are awarded so you are fine.

How do the ROOs of schools you received scholarships from notify you? Is it by e-mail or phone? I'm going on vacation overseas so I won't be able to take international calls, and I really don't want to seem like I'm ignoring the ROO.

I'd send an email to each school you cold hear from explaining you will be out of the country until xyz day and look forward to having a message if you have been awarded a scholarship. Covers your bases that way. Have a great vacation!!

^^^ Agreed

For travel I really like Google talk, call forward phone to Google talk, and it sends me a email recording of phone calls and a text message on every call... and its free. Lots of other uses/benefits too.

We too received the DoDMERB forms this Monday with no other mail from Army. We are in Michigan. Son's status has not changed yet. Keeping fingers crossed! This in nerve wracking!

Received DoDMERB package last Friday and have to admit that really got our hopes up. I hope we are not disappointed!
