The ROO position is one that even after an entire year goes by you still have only done certain parts of your job one time. Plus over the last few years the awarding paradigm has changed every year with both campus based and national scholarships having different emphases. Now there are budget considerations that are coming into play as well. In the Spring of 2009 two schools told us they never filled all of the available slots and now we have ROO's saying half of the previous awardees wouldn't qualify today. The ROO's may have some inkling of the future but certainly don't have a crystal ball. All of this is no excuse for making someone feel like a nut job as they interact with families or discouraging some families from even pursuing a scholarship - those interactions are within their control.
It is fantastic to have real time updates and I commend those of you who are willing to participate even after you ran into a prickly person.
I'm right there with you being the crazy nut job!! If you aren't going through this process, nobody out there can get any of the emotions we are all going through. That is why I love this forum! Thank you to all.
