March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

DISTRACTION ONLY!!! I was looking at the view/post counter on opening page(also checking to see who's logged in)...March 8 board is now the 3rd most viewed and 3rd most posted thread. Yes, distractions are needed.

Amazing. We can drop a 1000 pound bomb or rocket on some Taliban's keester from 20 miles away, but we have to rely on several typists inputting data into multiple, manual databases in order to inform applicants about the results of a board which occurred 6 weeks ago (of course, that's just to find out whether you were rejected or not - if you got something, then finding out how many years you got and where they say you can go to school have to wait for the release of some OTHER data.) Now THATS the military I remember so well! The more things change, the more they stay the same...Gotta love it!

Is that we can put men on the moon but we can't heat/cool our office buildings. Just moved into a 85 million dollar building that is LEED Gold with blinds that close automatically, no light switches, plants on the roof, etc, etc and still froze. Supposedly will take a year or two for all the systems to function as designed. All about priorities I suppose.
 
Well it looks like no updates are being posted this weekend...:frown:...I've got fingers crossed for everyone still waiting to get good news Monday or Tuesday...enjoy your weekend...:thumb:

From Louisville, Ky. Son was capt. of the football and wrestling teams and now rugby team. Quiet, leader type who is also alot of fun. Solid academics, none of his gang is attending UK, and we discussed and both felt it would be beneficial to be with another Cadet so there are a 2nd set of ears to hear what is being said so nothing gets past him.:rolleyes: Will send you contact info as soon as we get med done in the next week or so.

Thank you all for your support. Loaded up with 3 boxes of thn mints and my tank is full. Bring on Monday... Bring on Tuesday. Bring on the ROO's, the Dodmerb's, and bring on the phoobah to the applicant status page last week... Gotta stick around to celebrate the good news with all of my new friends... :thumb:
 
Offered!

My son's portal status now says "You have been offered an Army ROTC Scholarship." Can't wait to find out if he got his top choice, University of Illinois. Last name "Mc" May have changed yesterday as we didn't check until this morning.

I'm in the same boat. My status came up as this and its very confusing becasue all my applications say tha:frown:t i have my schools of choice listed. If anyone has any advice let me know, Im stressing out big time.

Just got back today from Italia and the first thing I did was check my status, and I got an offer! Thanks to everyone on this thread. You all have been a great source of information and it was a pleasure to hear your thoughts through this stressful process. I wish the best of luck to those still waiting for an answer.
