March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

#2 school is 4 year award and #4 school is 3 year award. Both in state with similar costs so not sure the rationale but it is what it is.

thats great news for your family paradoxer. you have been a great wealth of information on this thread. best to you..

Show me some T's... Show me some U's....Show me some V's.... and please please show Niko's mom and I some W's......

Congrats to all of you who have heard the good news, I know the "weight" has been lifted from your shoulders. :thumb:

Show me so W's too! Waiting through our third board now! DS has been DODMERB qualified since December.

How bought some stats (GPA's, test scores, etc) from the scholarship awarded DDs and DSs? It could be encouraging to those of us waiting to see how we stand.

Third board for us too. This has been a loooong year. Qualified in December too for Dodmerb, hope they didn't waste time and money on the physical....

Just an observation. Today we've only had 1 new award, a K, from leapyears DD/DS. Everything else is schools updating for Thursday/Friday awards. Chasing shadows once again....

Same boat

Hey Dawgawn.. Us dawgs gotta stick together. My DS in same boat. Was 3Q for USMA, went to NWL and then got the TWE. Shut out on first two boards for AROTC. His stats are excellent. There are many multiple offers coming out of this board, so maybe the cream is starting to float to the top. Im am very neverous as DS listed all private Universities and Out of State schools (except for one private in state that he was not accepted to and took off his list). We shall see. However, keep the faith as you reporting your last name is a W with no word yet is encourgaging as possibly the last group may be being batched by the CC inputer and not being entered one by one. Best to you...

It just crossed my mind that I could call the ROO at my son's #1 school. He did tell me last week that he would be out of town on Friday but I could call him Monday and a decision should have been made by then. However, I'm terrified to call. He won't be able to see anything I can't see can he? If one person at CC is entering the ROO would have no more foresight than I correct?

Have no idea

My son has already made his school choice (we haven't sent the deposit yet). We are lucky because he received a nice scholarship along with other financial aid which makes it (while tight) doable. He plans on doing ROTC, scholarship or not and is looking forward to it! However the scholarship, even a 3 year would be a big help. Our daughter is a sophomore at UMD, so we are already paying one tuition/ R&B payment. We have discussed with the ROO at the school trying to get something for next year. Soooo we just have to wait and see.

Call him. Email him. If he offered that you could contact him -- go for it. Its like the first time off the diving board - you just gotta jump!!

We're in the same boat in a lot of ways. Something will work out - I keep telling DS to just have a little faith, it will fall in line. Our DD is at Eastern Kentucky, sophomore Education major. She has an academic scholarship that covers some of it, but she let her 3.0 slide, so won't qualify for it 1st semester next year, can get it back when her grades go up again. Which they will or I may have to cry. She'll do whats needed.

Waiting, waiting and more waiting....

Dawgawn, From what I have seen in previous postings, I would think that most of the kids had pretty similar stats. My son had 32 ACT, 3.7 GPA (lower than many, but from a difficult private college prep school,) multiple varsity letters in 2 sports, Natl Honor Society, reasonable extracurriculars, recent CAP Cadet participation. Also completed 3 solos toward his pilot's license before he ran out of money. I don't remember the ROTC Fitness Test score; it was good, but not outstanding. Interviewer told him he was giving him max score, but of course we don't know that for sure. We also don't know yet if he got a 3 or 4 year. He applied late and was only looked at by the 3rd Board. Hope this helps.

Wasn't it early afternoon on Thursday and Friday before we started seeing MASS movement in awards? Maybe it will be that way today. Either way I wish W person would hit the magic button!

Hey everyone,

New to the forum, but have been following for some time.
I've been checking the status of my application and saw that I was DODMERB qualified about a week and a half ago. Thursday my status changed to say that I had received a scholarship, but I haven't been able to figure out from reading the forum if the school(s) I was given a scholarship to will show up on the status website?

Everyone here has been a great help to me lately, so thank you. And congratulations to everyone that has been awarded a scholarship. Praying for those still hopeful

Welcome and congradulations on your scholarship. Many have seen their page update to show the names of the schools awarded. Keep checking or if you can, call a ROO at one of your schools. Just for the game, which letter of the alphabet are you?

Hope I'm not breaking any patterns people were trying to make, I'm La, if it helps any.

Don't worry about the pattern, there have been one or two others "out of order", but we're all bored waiting and it is amusing to guess at CC's mystical system behind the curtain. Good luck!

Thanks for the Stats! Hope others will add theirs. It could be useful for future crops of prospective scholarship cadets to know what is needed. :thumb:

Glad to see your DS is working on his Pilot's License, mine is flying today (he is really close to getting his license).
