What does DS want to major in... My son wants to double major in Criminal Justice & Psychology with the hopes of working in the FBI after serving in the Army. He might also want to be career military, he's just not sure at this point. I am wondering if with all the push for science, math & engineering, the major he has picked isn't what the army is looking for.
DS maxed all other score areas, so the only goose egg is letters. 32 ACT, 3.89 unw gpa, eagle, student senate pres, other scout stuff, passed APFT and had amazing interview(kid learned to talk from momma) Its all just guessing at this point, the stats here are all top notch - some will and some won't get the scholarship. I wouldn't have had him change a thing about his highschool career.
Hopefully they start posting something soon. Can't wait to see how many of you get great news. If it comes for us, that's just the icing.
very nice... im gonna put on my adult diapers for the next couple of hours
Got any thin mints left?
Im all out... Checking with all the girl scouts in neighborhood to see if they have any leftovers!
Gosh you guys make me laugh.
Thanks for the Stats! Hope others will add theirs. It could be useful for future crops of prospective scholarship cadets to know what is needed.
Glad to see your DS is working on his Pilot's License, mine is flying today (he is really close to getting his license).
Very impressive! That's great for Him...What is his first choice?
CC told me via phone on Friday AM that they would not be done until Tuesday. Again, I was told that there were 4 people inputing into computer and they each had a section of the alphabet.. Hopefully in my case the T thru Z guy was not there on Friday (We are WE)... Looking forward to the announcements tomorrow. Another note on the alphabet theories....Just something to do to pass the time... trying to figure this all out....helps getting thru the hours when this thread is lighting up and getting nothing for my DS. Wishing the best to all on this forum for the next couple of days...
If so, why do you believe it is last initial and not the last 4 SS or actually the school?
You all know I have been here for yrs. I am curious how everyone is leaping to the last initial is how the results are being released.
Hi I'm new to the forum and made a couple of posts but mostly have been checking in the past months to learn so much from you all. My DS received his notification on Friday and email from ROO as well. Here are his stats (not to brag just to possibly help others): ACT 26, GPA 3.6 at very competitive highly ranked school; Eagle Scout; varsity team captain for swim team; club swimming and other club sports (captain as well); numerous vol hours with school organizations and others; AP classes jr and senior year;
Hope it helps others . I also saw on the ROTC website that the average ACT was 26 last year and the average gpa was 3.5 ( I could be off a little but I think that is close.)
And for the most part the awardees last names have fallen into very specific alphabetical ranges (2 exceptions?). Mostly we are trying not to wear off the skin of our thumbs as we twiddle and so have pursued this hypothesis since that was the word from CC.
My heart goes out to all of you.
AFROTC Mom, and DS never applied AROTC, but I have to ask am I correct, someone with lower stats can get in because the school is lower tier compared to the higher stats student?
In other words the kid who applies to Texas A & M as a safety with a 32 ACT and every AP, plus tons of ECs will not get a scholarship, but the candidate with a 27 and a weaker resume, but applies to a less prestigious school will?
If so, why do you believe it is last initial and not the last 4 SS or actually the school?
AFROTC as you know take a nationalistic approach, schools don't matter at all in the process.
You all know I have been here for yrs. I am curious how everyone is leaping to the last initial is how the results are being released.
Kev Dawg's Pop said:the only question i can answer is the inital vs the last 4 ssn. I called CC and I was told that there are 4 people inputing results and each person has 6 or 7 letters of the alphabet. The first T just showed up for the T to Z group.
Take this as preparing the lurkers for next yr and enlightening the rest of us with your experience.
I am still learning after 3 1/2 yrs here.
This is my broad base strokes on how I see AROTC operating.
1. School first
2. Package competitiveness ---candidater
Thus, if school is first, wouldn't it make sense that your initials won't matter as much as the school?
Again, I come from a background that school does not matter at all. So I can see the initial or last 4 being the way they release the results.
That being said, could it be since the school is tied, the wait could be tied to getting all of the results from the schools, and thus, they input alphabetically.
It is a puzzle, nobody here knows and can only speculate by gaining more info.
I also am curious how some get the TWE with a 31+ ACT, and others get it with a 26. As many have stated the academic major doesn't matter, so does that mean it comes down to college?
I ask this because DS 2 wants forensic science, not the best student in the world, but has the APs, ECs and if he matches the tradition of add a 0 behind the SAT he would be a 2000 SAT. So I am curious is he out of the game? For AFROTC he is out of the game.
Yes, I know he has 0% chance of getting it if he doesn't apply, just trying to get the ducks in a row.
