March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

I swear, CC needs to get their communication sorted out. I was reading the CC Facebook page, a person asked on Friday if more updates were going to happen. This was the CC response that was given at 6:30am Friday. From what we have all been told by almost everyone is that CC does not send letters out until the updates are completed.

U.S. Army Cadet Command (ROTC) Notification is being mailed out now, online status changes may not be updated immediately.

Don't they have any idea that some of you are running out of Girl Scout Cookies while the wait goes on.

I saw the facebook too. I honestly don't think one hand knows what the other is doing at CC. Facebook page CC doesn't seem to be the same CC that answers the phone or email for POC. Typical multiple conflicting stories all from reasonably supposed be good sources....

Yeah, poor Kev Dawg...having to hit up the girl scouts for more thin mints....CC has no idea the cruelty they are subjecting us to:yllol::shake::yllol:

Yes thank you Ohio, the ducks are all lined up but the water is choppy. With the aid of people like you, and the lighting speed of e-mails plus thinking three steps ahead the end is in sight, God willing.

only three steps ahead....there's your problem:biggrin: Wishing you smooth water soon.

That was me hoping for some accurate info...haha. I asked the same question a couple of times but nothing they said was accurate and finally gave up!

cough up the number

Son just got a call from a "previously reliable confidential source" (sorry, been a cop for 28 years) telling him that he got a 4 yr scholarship to a major in-state school, or a 3 yr AD scholarship to the out-of-state school which is his first choice (and the school he will attend.) That's a blessing because I frankly thought that his offer would be to the in-state school only. I guess he could request a transfer of the 4 yr to the other school but I think there would be little chance of success - they have obviously already evaluated that when they gave him the two choices. We are still hopeful for ALL of you still waiting - Clarkson has not yet passed the word that the offers are over, so hang in there!

comon leap... cough up that secret phone number to the previously reliable confidential source....

First time poster- Long time reader.

Is it possible to receive an offer in the mail before your online status finally changes ?

Ksmom,

I would seriously sit down with him using this link.

http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/militarypaytables/2011MilitaryPayTable1-4.pdf

He may want to get AD ASAP, but does he realize the AESOP fable is true. The tortoise always beats the hare.

By the time an Army officer hits @24 he is equal in pay, by 26 he is beating the highest enlisted ranks, by 30 he beats out the highest ranks that are close to retiring, in other words they are at least 8 yrs older. And anyone who has lived life knows 30 you are probably a newlywed or just popping out a baby, 38 you have kids and a wife.

Do the math. 38 and making the same amount of money as the 30 yo with more financial burdens, or 30 making the same amount as the 38.

Also as an AF retired wife, I will tell you that the 2nd career paycheck also is a factor.

I am not trying to say don't go enlisted, just saying that money is an issue and having a college degree in the military is a make or break issue.

Oh, Pima - you are so right on! We have talked pay, opportunities, etc. He is just soooo anxious to get his hands dirty! (in his words "blow stuff up") Doesn't help that the Reserve recruiter is lurking around either; the guy actually told him last week he was a 'golden egg' and they had been waiting on him to come in all year. Dangit anyway! I know the guy is doing his job, but leave my son alone - he needs to go to college first :smile:

I can't tell you how much I have gotten from the posts you and Bullet do. The wisdom you offer us newbies is priceless; thank you for your interest in all the families here.

only a few more hours...

It looks like today is coming to a close unless the saints at CC keep entering in results after 5pm. So looks like I'll be on here waiting to see what Clarkson has to say (good or bad)

Calling it a day

Ok. thats it... almost 5pm CC time... im done... be back tomorrow... ohhhhhhhh wait. just checked status......my DS been selected for an interview!!! AWESOME

A recruiter from each branch has called my house ONCE. I'm not always so easy going and nice, leave it at that.:thumb:

Best Quote of the day.

Thanks. I'm not often proud of being a little difficult, but had to nip that in the bud - game over, thanks for playing and all.

Well guys, I think my DH will shoot me if I don't get off the computer. He's finally home after 48 hours straight at the firehouse. Guess I'd better go spend sometime with the guy. I'll check back in later, in case CC works late to post some status updates:yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol::yllol:

We get called at least once a month. Not sure they get it. "He did so well on his ASVAB test." Typical reply- "That's why he is going to college and not enlisting." Nothing against enlisted.... We lived on that paycheck for 4 years while toughing it out in peacetime on the back nine at MacDill. It was good, but I think its natural for us to want more for our kids than we had.

AS a parent remember a recruiters job is to recruit.

We got the nightly phone calls too. We just stated he is going ROTC or Academy please don't call again.

They will stop calling.

Schools awarded

We just logged on to find out our son was given his top four choices -- two private and out of state, two public and in state. Still unsure about the duration of the scholarship, but we're just giddy here. We wish everybody lots o' luck and best wishes, and congratulations to all who have gotten the good news. :)

In the last month we have received 2 phone calls from the Army recruiters and 1 from the Marines. How is, he did so well on his Asvab..... I keep telling them that he is finishing his first year at school and on a ROTC scholarship but thanks for calling.
