    Hey all,

I started AROTC this fall, and was disqualified for Tourette Syndrome and OCD in September. I submitted my waiver package (consisting of a letter from a retired Navy neurologist saying I do not have TS, and a letter from a retired Army psychiatrist saying I do not have OCD) on September 30th through the AROTC department. It is midway through february now and I have not heard back. The LTC here said that cadet command sent my information to a neurologist to make a decision, but they told him the same thing in december.

I am a junior in college right now, and I need to start making plans for my future (i.e. summer internship versus 4 week LDAC training). This program is extremely time intensive, especially with the leadership roles I am in (PSG, SL), and it is becoming difficult to balance my engineering coursework with ROTC given that they have made no commitment to me yet.

I was wondering if the length of this process is typical, and if there is anything I can do to speed it up? I already told the LTC that I cannot continue the program once this semester is over.

    Thanks!

Just to understand, when you say you've told the LTC that you cannot continue the program after this semester, do you mean you can't continue unless you hear back regarding your waiver. If you are granted the waiver do you plan on staying with the program?

Back in 2012 when this issue came up while your were applying to the Academy you posted regarding these issues. It seemed in that post that these were issues you do have although not accute. Has something changed to where you now believe you never had these issues at all. It's going to be hard to get past the "History Of" when it comes to getting a waiver approved. This is most likely why it is taking so long.

I told the LTC that I cannot continue the program past this semester if I do not hear back about the waiver. If I do receive the waiver, I will contract.

These issues are completely observation based diagnosis, limited to one primary care doctor's opinion. I sought out medical professionals who were experts in these fields to observe me and determine if I had any neurologic conditions. Both doctors indicated that they did not observe anything abnormal through their review of my records and multiple appointments

Have you contacted Cadet Command? When DS has a medical waiver issue we spoke to CC and they were very helpful. I would try that next. Good luck

    Small,
I am in a similar situation, I was awarded a four year ROTC scholarship last february. All my paperwork regarding the waiver was submitted in April 2014. I am still waiting for a decision. Sheriff is right. If you call cadet command they can tell you the status of your waiver, and let you know whether or not your file has been reviewed. I was also wondering if anyone knew how long this process could extend for. I'm bummed because my buddies that are contracted have had the opportunity to apply to CULP or Airborne School. If anyone had any insight it would be much appreciated. Thanks so much, and best of luck with the rest of the process.
