Hello, as you probably can tell I am new to this forum but am already excited to gather helpful information about NROTC. Recently I applied for the the National NROTC scholarship but was not chosen from the last board meeting and am wondering if I have the credentials fit for being in NROTC.
Here are my stats.
Age: 18
Height: 6'3"
Weight:150 lb.
High School GPA Weighted and Unweighted (7 Honors Classes): 3.95
College Credits (Washington State Running Start Program, Community College): 45 Credits, 3.57 GPA, expected to graduate high school with 92 college credits
Highest Verb SAT or ACT equivalent: 550
Highest Math SAT or ACT equivalent: 640
NROTC Applicant Fitness Assessment (AFA):
Crunches:95
Pushups: 50
1 Mile Run: 4:52
Officer Interview: Stated "I was the highest he ever scored in the interview."
College Choices:
Point Loma Nazarene University
Washington State University
University of Colorado
Oregon State University
Arizona State University
Athletics:
XC: 4 Varsity letters, State 2014, Team Captain 2014
Wrestling: 3 Varsity Letters
Track: 3 Varsity letters
Club Mountain Biking Team: 2012
Extra Curricular Activities:
National Honor Society: 2013, 2014
Jazz Band: 2011-2015, Lead Trumpet 2014-2015
Wind Ensemble: 2011-2015, First Chair Trumpet 2014-2015
North County Honor Band: Selected for 2015, Second Chair Trumpet
Brass Choir: 2012, 2013
Community Service:
Homeless Shelter: 5 hours a month 2011-2015
Church Mission Trip: 60 hours a year, 2011-2014
Middle School Church Small Group Leader (13 middle schoolers): 2013-2015, (6 hours a week)
Work Experience:
Wood Cutting Business: 40+ cords of Firewood cut per year 2011-2015
Summer Job (Corporate Park): 40 hours a week, 2013 Summer, 2014 Summer
Questions and Concerns:
Similar to most Applicants, currently I am growing anxious as more and more waves pass without selection into NROTC. Unfortunately, I cannot apply for the AROTC Nation Scholarship because of too many college credits. If not granted the NROTC scholarship I will apply for the AROTC Campus Based scholarship at University of Idaho. I know my test aren't exceptional but I am scheduled to take the ACT one last time this December and am going to study extremely hard to raise my scores. My main concern is how much do I need to to raise my scores the make my application more competitive, or even if my credentials are enough for the Scholarship.
Thanks for your help!
Ben
