New Jersey Lautenberg and Menendez

Also, now we know that Lautenberg is also calling and likely not mailing...

My D also received a call from Lautenberg's office today notifying her of her nom. The guy who called (not Lautenberg himself) told her that a letter would follow.

I am curious: Did anyone get a call from the actual Senator, or was it from one of their staffers?

A Lautenberg staffer called my son - and it was on his cell phone, not our home phone.

D's USNA CIS page got updated last night with her nom. It says"

"Congress/Senator 1 NJ 29-JAN-2010 "

Today I called Senator Menendez's office and spoke to the gentleman that I spoke to earlier in the week. He confirmed that my son did not receive the nomination from that office. He was nice and said, "...but I still need to congratulate you because, as I know from my sources, your son did receive a congressional nomination, so he is covered already in that area."

We still wait to hear one way or another from the Lautenberg office. We may have to accept that the congressional nomination is enough. If he gets the appointment to USAFA then it will be....we are hopeful.

Good luck to all!

I'm amazed...someone from the Lautenberg office actually answered the phone?

So is there a thread for that (waiting for appointments)? I saw a thread for those already in but how about those still waiting to hear? I guess they split into each SA folder...anyway, maybe we ought to create a thread for New Jersey SA Appointments. What do you think?

Hi I think I got all this NJ nomination good news correct so far:

latterdaddy rep, lautenberg, menendez usna
subdude rep, Laut
Momof three rep usma
blueskies rep usafa

Twin brother and I received nominations from Congressman LoBiondo: USNA

BlueSkies rep is 11th District, Frelinghuysen. USAFA was 1st and only choice. Did not apply to any other SA's. Son did apply for AFROTC Scholarship as well. Waiting for results of 2nd board to be released by Feb 12th.

I also added a new thread under "Service Academy Parents". It is "New Jersey SA Appointments in waiting or Appointees List".

I guess this thread will continue as long as there is a chance for further noms.

Don't know for sure - I think it's still sinking in that he wouldn't be going to USNA. We may take a trip out to Colorado soon. What part of the state are you from?

We are from Chester, New Jersey (Morris County). USAFA is in a very beautiful part of the country at the base of the Rocky Mountains about 1 hour south of Denver, Colorado. BUT, if your son is determined to be Navy as my son is to be Air Force, it may be better to go the NROTC route. In the end, gets you the same thing...a commission in the NAvy and a Bachelor's degree. Remember, he will have to live a life in the service he chooses...

My son couldn't see going to Army or Navy or Coast Guard so his backup is AFROTC, regardless of his university choice. He was already accepted into Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a $12k scholarship and, interestingly, today he received an acceptance packet from Seton Hall University school of Diplomacy and International Relations with a $70,000 scholarship. Still waiting on his other schools (George Washington, American University, Tulane and of course USAFA).
