From the sound of it, you are not qualified for an appointment (did they mention any academic deficiencies prior?), which means you are also not qualified for a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. Falcons are only from the QNS pool. It is possible you are up for the prep school, though! Is Complete but not Selected the same as a QNS? Or does this mean I was not academically qualified and still have a chance at Falcon? My TWE said I was not able to be admitted to USAFA or Prep.
There was no mention of deficiencies, I got a QNS from USMA, so I assumed that the other two academies I applied to were QNS. With it saying I could not be admitted to USAFA or Prep, I guess I'm out in the Falcon option. From the sound of it, you are not qualified for an appointment (did they mention any academic deficiencies prior?), which means you are also not qualified for a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. It is possible that the standards are a little different, or perhaps the "complete not selected" is USAFA's equivalent to the typical QNS (a candidate should weigh in on that one). There was no mention of deficiencies, I got a QNS from USMA, so I assumed that the other two academies I applied to were QNS. My USAFA Portal also says Complete but not Selected and my TWE shows a denial for both a direct appointment and Prep School. But I got accepted to USMA and USCGA. So I figured that I was qualified for USAFA but just not selected because there were more competitive people on my Congresswoman's nomination slate for USAFA.
This is not correct, if 'complete but not selected' is the same as QNS, other wise you would have not been told you also will not be able to attend prep school. So you were qualified, just not enough slots in you area. From the sound of it, you are not qualified for an appointment (did they mention any academic deficiencies prior?), which means you are also not qualified for a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. I got the TWE on 4/21When did your portal update?
My portal updated with the heart breaking news on April 7, 2016.When did your portal update?
My district is not very competitive, so I am wondering if none of us (There were only 15 people applying for a nomination to one of the 4 Academies) selected from this district. This is not correct, if 'complete but not selected' is the same as QNS, other wise you would have not been told you also will not be able to attend prep school. If I am not out of the running, and it is a QNS, does this mean if a kid cannot attend R-Day/I-Day I still have a (slim) chance of getting that appointment? Or are there no fill in appointments made?It is possible that the standards are a little different, or perhaps the "complete not selected" is USAFA's equivalent to the typical QNS (a candidate should weigh in on that one).
Also, the Falcon Foundation Scholarship is NOT the same as the prep school- they cannot be lumped in the same category. If they did not strictly say that you are out of the running for the FF Scholarship and what you received is in fact a QNS, it is possible that you are being considered.
I literally had that exact same question because Im from a U.S Territory in the Pacific and only one person was appointed this year, but he plans on going to USNA or Stanford. So I asked my USAFA Counselor if they would give the appointment to the next qualified applicant and she said, "If I am not out of the running, and it is a QNS, does this mean if a kid cannot attend R-Day/I-Day I still have a (slim) chance of getting that appointment? Or are there no fill in appointments made?
This happened to a friend last year, he received a Non Select, but in May he was notified that he made it in. So though slim it is possible.I literally had that exact same question because Im from a U.S Territory in the Pacific and only one person was appointed this year, but he plans on going to USNA or Stanford. So I asked my USAFA Counselor if they would give the appointment to the next qualified applicant and she said, "
They may or may not back fill the class. Depends on if they have enough declinations."
Crazy things happen... I know that much, because (for some reason) they let me in!If I am not out of the running, and it is a QNS, does this mean if a kid cannot attend R-Day/I-Day I still have a (slim) chance of getting that appointment? Or are there no fill in appointments made?

All you can do is wait... But at least she still has a chance. My DD is still listed as candidate. I have spoken with her counselor numerous times and he keeps saying check the portal everyday. He says she will know by April 30. My son is currently in his second year at USAFA and he says everyone he knows who knows someone who applied has been given their answer. We don't know what to do.
