NROTC Scholarship Award Notification

Congrats to all hearing about their NROTC scholarships!! Any idea on when results of the AROTC first board will start showing up?

4-year scholarship to my first choice school! Congrats to all, and remember it is still early in the process, so don't fret if you're still waiting! :)

Congratulations to all! my DS thought he would get one as he has done everything right and planned for this since the 7th grade....great SAT/ACT scores, Varisty team (waterpolo/swim) 3 years (lettered), Sea Cadets for 2 yrs and even Company Commander for New Recruits in the Unit, tons of Community Service hours, etc...and has even been accepted at his Plan B school.

Also received an NROTC 4-year to first choice school today -- but keep in mind, his application was complete by mid-July.

I would say somewhere between a week to 3 weeks from now. AROTC notifications seem to have a different time frame each board.

Just got the news today. 4yr NROTC Navy Option to USD! The advice from this site was definitely a big help during the process. Good luck to the other applicants out there!

The board meets starting October 20th, so I would guess the results won't be out until some time in November.

I understood first board was the 3rd for Army ROTC. Another week or two is probably the right answer.

Nope. Army ROTC only has 3 boards a year and none have happened, yet. The dates for the 3 boards are:

October 20th
January 5th
March 9th.

So we have some time to keep waiting for Army ROTC. Navy ROTC typically has 10-12 boards a year, so they are much more frequent.

Question- my son is a freshman in college participating in the NROTC college program, just finished basic training. After TWE in the Spring for USNA and NROTC, he reapplied - and was notified yesterday that he has received a 4-year NROTC scholarship to the college he is enrolled at:thumb:. Does anyone know if this means that the scholarship will be activated for this year?

Answer to question

By completed, do you mean the medical, transcripts, recs, etc or just the actual application?

He had everything done because he completed the NROTC and USNA applications at the same time. He did his DodMerb paperwork and exams as soon as he was asked to do so, asked the same teachers do the online recs for both applications at the end of last year so they were prepared when the emails came to them in June, and his counselor send transcripts, etc. all during the summer. We learned from our older DS, who is now a youngster at USNA, that getting everything done as soon as possible makes it go very smoothly. Teachers aren't overwhelmed with recs to write, DodMerb isn't heavy with files to review, and the CFA is easier to practice for and complete with a relaxed coach during the summer. I believe strongly that getting a complete (or nearly complete) file in front of the first review boards is a very good thing.

Kudos

Congratulations to all that received positive news.

Patience (easy to say, hard to practice) for all of you still waiting. If you want this bad enough you will get there.

For those that got "good news" check in on past posts by folks like Kinnem, Pima and Bruno. Bama and PMS Kirkland too. These are go to people that have been through this 'rodeo' before. Read through what they advise folks like yourself on getting the word. They will all urge you to 'run through the tape'

They will also urge you to enjoy your good tidings BUT gear up for DoDMERB (many hit the screen - some of which could be avoided)

And finally - enjoy this time in your life.

I rushed through high school to get to VMI (right? who does that?)

In retrospect I wished I had slowed down & spent more time with my Family and savored being a Senior.

Once you step on this escalator called NROTC your school years will loom; summer cruises will beckon; and before you know it you'll be out in the Fleet as an Aviator, or in Surface, Subs, Buds, or any number of vital positions as a newly minted Ensign.

Thank you, each one of you, for stepping forward at this time in our Country's history. Dark Clouds loom on the horizon while we dip into one of our silly cutback cycles. You stepped forward when so many are stepping back.

You truly are the best and brightest!

So many of us, here on this forum, are proud of you and wish you all the best.

Fair Winds and Following Seas!

Great advice.

My older son had these same sentiments once he started his first year.
