NROTC scholarship notification

Visited the NROTC detachment at my number 1 choice school the other day. Recruiting officer/LT informed me that there would be many scholarships coming in the next few weeks, and hopes should still be alive. The captain of the detachment had sat in on one of the selection boards a few weeks back and learned that Pensacola had still not determined how many scholarships they would be giving out, thus had been sparring in awarding them (at that time anyways).

To reinforce the point, LT told me that the detachment's scholarship allotment (25-30 recipients) was usually full by mid Jan-early Feb each year (it's a popular state school). This year however, only half of their scholarship spots had been filled as of last Friday.

So for all those still waiting, don't rule out getting a scholarship (as well as one of your top schools) just because it's late in the game.

USMC_Ordie, Really sorry to hear your DS wasn't accepted. Has your portal changed for MO NROTC or did you just receive a phone call?

USA123,
Portal still shows as "at board for selection".

He did get an Air Force ROTC scholarship though! Still excited and waiting for USAFA/USNA

NROTC scholarship

Just checked portal DS was not awarded scholarship... sad day! Good luck to those of you still waiting.

Congratulations Mandyj34.!!! Did you find out today through your portal?

Just found out today I was awarded NROTC scholarship. I recieved word by email and my portal was updated as well. I can't even begin to explain how relieved I am. And for those who are still waiting, hang in there. Goodluck!

Today, DS found out he was offered 4-yr NROTC at Nova. Huge relief, and he deserves, like the rest of the candidates, to really enjoy what's left of senior year. Hope everyone still waiting gets what they've worked for! Plan A still looms, but plan B is pretty great.

Good Times

Mandy34, Striker, SA22 congrats and all the very best on your new journey!!

Thanks, E.B.U. Just cruised back through the entire thread...the angst is palpable, and the support unbelievable! BTW, DS's girlfriend is heading to USC...tell your DS, watch it!:lock::wink:

Must say, I love the emoticons...so unmilitary

Was just turned down for an NROTC scholarship and had greag stats very similar to candidates being awarded scholarships, im very confused and upset.

I looked at your initial stats post and there is nothing that leaps out at me there. Of course you didn't mention your intended major so perhaps that played a role as 85% go to Tier 1 and Tier 2 majors.

My son did not receive a scholarship for NROTC Marine Option. Being a wrestler, he did what he always did, get up off the mat, and go on to prove them wrong. In school scholarships can be won by college programmers, although it is once again a difficult national competition. But with hard work, determination, and grit, it can be done. If you're still dreaming of a Navy commission the door is not yet closed. :thumb:

Congratulations to everyone with positive news....Received a phone call today from Villanova ROTC...Received a 4 year NROTC....Positive thoughts to everyone else who is still waiting, and Congratulations to everyone else who has received good news!

Kinnem, I am a tier 2 biological sciences major. My biggest thought is school list and I just got the application in too late. After my interview they were very impressed and said I had a strong chance of winning one, which got my hopes up.

And thank you for all the advice over the past long several months...Greatly appreciate everyone's time and advice...thank you again.
