Official USAFA Class of 2016 Appointment thread

Hello

Hello - have been a lurker for more than a year now. Finally have something to share - DS received his BFE today in the mail. Last Monday, our Congressperson, the Honorable Cathy McMorris-Rogers called to let our DS know that he would receive an appointment. I have waited so anxiously for this day. I want to thank all of the wonderful people on this site for your patient explanations, heartfelt posts, and general good cheer. Grateful to be a part of this forum. Cheers!

My heart is so full I think I am going to pop - thank you for sharing in the joy of this moment with me. My DS is away at college and very very happy, and my DH is working until tomorrow morning. I am thrilled, but also sobered by the fact that this journey is just beginning. There is so much to come and I don't even know what I don't know!:rolleyes:

Portal Question

I know I read this somewhere, but I can't find it. DS sent in his acceptance about 10 days ago. We haven't received the second BFE yet, and the portal still says "appointment offered". I should have sent the acceptance by receipt confirmation, but was running late for an doctor appt and didn't even think about it. Now, of course, I'm convinced the letter was lost in the mail :rolleyes: Does the portal change to anything past the "appointment offered"?

DS also received an appointment to USNA, and we are waiting for more confirmation before declining the USNA offer. Now, I am feeling guilty about making another applicant "stalk" their mailbox...

A wonderful question to have, I know :biggrin:
 
DS sent his acceptance back on Feb 8. His Appointment Status changed to "Appointment Accepted" Wed Feb 15. DS was told by AFA that second BFE will be sent out around mid March.

As long as you are triple qualified, you are required by law to be offered an appointment if you have a principal nomination. I'm sure they'll get to you soon as they work their way through the mounds of paperwork they probably have. See this link for faq's about nominations from USAFA's site. Hey, I'm new to this page, but I had a question for everyone. I did receive a principle nomination to USAFA from my congressman, however, I am apparently not considered academically qualified because my SAT verbal score is 30 points under the minimum. I am very much qualified in all other areas, with the exception being only my SAT verbal score. So does this make me non-competitive for admission, even though it's only 30 points? :confused:
 
Hey, sorry to hear that for you :( Unfortunately a lot of people who are really qualified get rejected. Heck, I got rejected from USMA last year and I was 60-80 points above the middle 50% of the Class of 2015 SAT-wise in each subject...so that's about 200 points total. I felt really disappointed because I was so qualified in every other way and couldn't figure out why I got rejected. At least you still may have the option of prep-school if you're only just below being academically qualified. Best of luck either way!
 
when do you guys think the next big batch of appointments will come out? mid march..so like march 15th?
