An Appointment is an invitation to attend the Academy. There is no interview. That being said, ALL Appointments are conditional on the Appointee maintaining their grades (a "D" won't kill you, but you might have some explaining to do) and their medical status (hence the running joke about bubblewrap). Meet those conditions and show up on I-Day and you are in.
Best wishes.
EDIT: And stay out of trouble with the law.
Not a speegle. My relatives are the Cookes but only 1 family is left there. Funny coinkidink though. My son will be driving through your area next year when he is on his way to and from Oxford (and ATlanta) . Look forward to meeting fellow southerners! Your posts have been very funny. I have enjoyed them. Good luck to your son. Are you on the USAFA class of 2016 facebook page?We are in the Black Belt Region (named for the color of the soil) about 45 min SW of Tuscaloosa. By sheer coincidence, my son's girlfriend has many relatives in Opp and visits there all the time! You're not a Speegle by any chance are you
That would be too Twilight Zone...

God bless you, NAV84, and your impatient daughter too. I love her!
Thanks to your post I went ahead and called our MOC. I couldn't believe I was doing this, because she could've said DS wasn't on the list, BUT HE IS!!!
DS HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO USAFA CLASS OF 2016!!! Praise the Lord and pass the ammo! I am so proud of my DS! Wow . . . I am so exhausted from all this stalking too. Now the journey begins!
I don't know which nomination was used for his appointment yet, but the staff member said DSs letter (BFE) would be mailed on 28 March. I think I asked her 3 times, "Are you sure his name is on the list?"
Woohoo!! Now I will shift all my efforts to those of you who haven't heard yet. I pray that you will soon, and that your dreams will come true!
And LFry, call your Senator!
Thank you everyone for your support and virtual hugs. I hope to meet you at parent events.
I live in Kansas too and was curious to know who contacted your DS about his appointment and which MOC he got a nom from? My plan B is ROTC at KSU (Nothing against the Jayhawks, just closer to home at KSU. )
Thanks!
Hi LFry,
We don't really know who the nom is from, but my DS also has a presidential. Maybe his BFE will say, but I'm not sure. KSU is a great school too!
I sent you a PM.
Good luck to you! I wish you the very best!

Let our prayers be that BFE's and the TWE's go to the right people. I have read that up to 1/3 of the appointees do not complete the four years, and while for many the 1-3 year experience was positive and the source of many lifelong friendships, for many others the experience was negative. My DS has very solid qualifications...not rock solid.... but certainly enough for him to get an invitation, but there is still that element in the back of my head that questions, "is this the right thing for him". I take comfort in knowing that God works all things for good to those that love him and call upon his name", so no matter if it is BFE or TWE it will be for his benefit. I also have been impressed with the rigor of the process and am thankful that the USAFA has a very good idea of the right type of person for the USAFA.....if it is not my DS then it may be he is made for something equally important and equally good, perhaps even the patience and humility of trying again next year. It will hurt to get a TWE, but be thankful for the experience, trusting in God for the best, and trust that the USAFA knows what it is doing.......... and I admit, (I am writing this mostly for my own nerves)
I'm certainly not an expert but...There's probably another week to go, the MoC's slots aren't charged until an appointee accepts the appointment, some don't, and then they look at the next person. Even then you may go into the National pool, I have no idea how that works. But I would say, until you get a TWE, or your portal changes, there is hope. GOOD LUCK!So does the fact that:
1) I have not received an MOC Call, or a BFE
2)Another applicant from my district (that submitted her application before me)has already received an MOC call
3) My portal still says "candidate"
...mean that I will not be getting an appointment?
From what people are saying, I am gathering that all the MOCs have been notified, and call if they want to. My MOC already called some people, but not including me. It sounds like BFEs will only be going out to people that already received calls (if their MOC calls at all, which mine does, apparently).
So is that it for me?
