My son is waffling back and forth on an daily basis and it is consuming his mind. As of a couple days ago, he removed one Ivy League college and the UofMN. Now it is down to his final two Academy choices ( USAFA and West Point). He is leaning towards the USAFA more often than West Point but time will tell. We scheduled a trip out to West Point next week to help him decide (already been out to the CO Springs).

As Christcorp accurately stated, there are a lot of kids in this exact situation. All of these kids have great options and there are a TON of wild cards to be played out. For those who know they want an Academy experience, many of them have multiple appointments.

In summary, it's not over until people commit and my sons situation can be repeated all over the country. Good luck to those of you who still are waiting. Hang in there! :)
 
For those who accepted their appointments on 03/29/2012, the portal may have updated for you. I just logged in just to check if anything changed, and I received the following message:

"We have received your ACCEPTANCE of your appointment! Congratulations on a fine decision. Please open the attached letter for details. - NEW!"

The waffling just ended. With spread sheet in hand, my DS decided on the USAFA. He just declined his offer to West Point.

new to forum...

With a son still listed on portal as "candidate", has us wondering if there is still much of a possibility of an appointment. Seems as though the proverbial Fat Lady is just about to hit the stage...... He is the very first family member to ever attempt to go The Academy Route, and we are very proud he has done so. However, the whole process has us, as parents, feeling like we're off our home turf. All the acronyms, nomination process, testing, waiting, etc. has us biting fingernails. So, if you folks had to take a guess at it, are we about to hear some opera singing? if not, how soon?

From reading some of the other postings on this forum, and things that have been posted on the AFA Admissions Facebook page, it sounds like the final round of appointments (or TWE's) will be going out this week. There could still be a few here and there, but the vast majority will know very soon. If he hasn't gotten a TWE so far, he's still in the running so keep the faith! Good luck!
