Official USAFA Class of 2016 Appointment thread

Tough Year....watch USAFA ave. ACT skyrocket

It will be interesting to see what happens to the average test scores and GPA of this class compared to others ......... I am guessing it goes up 3 points on the ACT......The USAFA was already in the top 10 for selectivity ...... this will make them in the top 5. If they hold to the small class size, all the 2nd timers will make for an even more competitive 2017 class.

2/3 of the class will be MOC slate winners and their stats should be the same as always. The wait pool being smaller will probably have higher than normal stats. I would guess that the overall stats that will eventually be released by the academy won't be much different than in the past.

U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 2016 Appointee,

No it isn't the same info as the 2nd BFE. The link has two surveys that are in addition to the forms in the 2nd BFE. On the thread "Instructions to Appointee Questions" (or something of the sort), someone made a list of all the paperwork that comes/needs to be filled out in the 2nd BFE.

i got accepted too but its been a while and I just got on this site but yeah I received a nomination from Honorable Congressman Gregory Meeks in NY. I got accepted on March 2, 2012

It was AWESOME!!!

This is one amazing young man...and family...and he's going to do well! Ya'll are gonna love him as a classmate and the fact that he's "just like all of you" is an awesome indication of the type class you of 2016 are!! :thumb:

I also have a classmate from my highschool that also got in, but he doesn't have an account on this forum. But we were both nominated by Congressman McNerney and have both accepted our appointments. Just wondering, how common is it for 2 future cadets from the same high school to be selected to go to the same service academy?

Congratulations to you em23! The year my kiddo went to USNA, ('07), 3 kids went to USAFA, 2 to USMA and 2 to USNA from the same high school. Largest number in school history and still stands. All graduated from their Academies in '11 and to date, are successful in their respective military careers. :thumb:

Thank you kdc246 and breadcrumbs! I'm honored to be crossing into the Blue and joining the Long Blue Line! Hope your kid is doing well in the Navy!

Congrats to EM23

Wow! Congratulations to you on your appointment. I sent you a private message. My best to you and your family...batmom

Here is an interesting factoid from the land of 10,000 lakes. As of Saturday, I learned that 21 appointments were offered to Minnesotans and 20 out of 21 were accepted! The one person that turned it down decided to go to West Point. Based off of history, the ALO officer said more MN folks "should" get appointments totaling around 25. MN normally has over 30 cadets slots at the USAFA. This will be a lean year.

I found that acceptance rate to be shockingly high. I know my DS got two appointments and I would assume many other young men and women were offered more than one appointment as well. I wonder if this is common in other States?

I assumed that the long announcement delay would cause a lot of fallout and students would choose other Academy's or other colleges. I was wrong.

That is very interesting data. How did you get it? I would love to know the similar information for Michigan.
Thanks

We are also in McNerney's congressional district. That makes three appointments for him from the tri-valley. There might be one or two from the central valley as well. Not a bad showing!

I'll see your family at the reception then! Congrats to your kid!
