Prior = Prior Enlisted. Candidates that are currently enlisted in the Air Force (regular or reserve). Usually there are prior candidates that receive a direct appointment to the Academy. Other Priors receive prep school appointments to academically refresh and prepare them for the Academy. However, apparently this year Admissions has decided to not appoint any Priors directly to Academy. I'm sure this is VERY disappointing to many Priors. So many things different this year.

Expect the unexpected.
