Pending Waiver Submission/Review by USNA?

You won't know unless you speak to them. However, for Academy applicants and 4YR ROTC scholarship winners, all DQs are automatically reviewed for a waiver (unless it is non-waiverable condition).

A waiver is currently under review for you. Make sure that DODMERB has all the relevant medical paperwork in regards to your condition.

Thank you! We are meeting with the doctor early next week to address the issue. Will keep you posted

Just wanted to give you an update. One of my remedials was removed (which is a good thing) and additional medical notes, including a note from my lacrosse coach stating I have been practicing 2 hours a day, five days a week, and even scored 5 goals in our game last Friday. I hope this will assist the process toward a positive outcome for my fractured foot DQ.
Tomorrow is my 18th birthday and hoping to join the ranks of the very fortunate who will soon walk the halls of a SA

That will definitely help, as you are proving that there are no physical limitations.

Does DoDMERB need any information (if you have any) or is the waiver a function of the SA? Though DoDMERB may indeed be the source of the information, they have already DQ'd the candidate and I am pretty certain the 'waiver' is granted by the medical team at the SA.

My point being - make sure any additional relevant information is sent to the appropriate place as I think DoDMERB is no longer involved once they DQ you.

The waiver approval authority reviews the paperwork that has been submitted to DODMERB. If it has not been submitted to DODMERB, then it won't be considered during the waiver review. At least that is how it works in Cadet Command.
That is really sad...we have new info but neither the Academy or DODMERS would forward the new info to the appropriate medical team for a waiver!

Has any one who is Pending Waiver Review heard anything in the past few weeks? My DS (with an LOA) is Pending Waiver Review since March 14th when file was examined and all requested info was submitted and accepted. No feedback from USNA medical office or DoDMERB despite some inquiries. Wondering if all waiver decisions are released together or if its a daily thing. When released, does the decision come first in an email, the USNA portal, DoDMERB website or in the regular mail?

I got a waiver awhile back. I did not have a LOA. The update went DoDMERB Portal, USNA portal ( complete medical qualification exam was removed from required action list), then letter in the mail.

Edit- For reference my waiver took about two months

Typical time frame is 4 weeks to 4 months. The process takes a while. If your file was submitted for waiver review March 14, a response would not be expected for the next week or so, at a minimum.

DS with LOA had a timeline as follows:
DQ - Jan 23
Waiver Approved - March 21 (Notified via email from RC; DODMERB portal updated March 23)
Medically Qualified - March 28 (Candidate Portal updated)

Greetings MohawkArmyROTC~
Just wanted to update on our son. All remedials have been removed and we are beginning the third week of the waiver process. Should we assume at this late date that waivers will not be issued? Any words of wisdom?
Our son is a team leader at the national robotics competition this weekend and we are keeping hopes up that the possibility of some good news may come before April 15th.
Thank you for what you do to keep so many of us in the loop and educated on the process.
God bless you

I wouldn't make any assumptions just yet. It is still possible to get the waiver approved this week. I don't expect you to get a response either way until 15 APR, as the SAs are pretty busy now filling their incoming Freshman classes.

Thank you! Is there any way to know which of the SA are considering a waiver at this late date? He is still showing Pending Waiver Review for all 3 SA on the DODMERB site. Last question please. Is there any uniformed process on how they are notified? ie...portal change, email, phone call, BFE/TWE
Again, God bless you and thank you!

At the very least you will get a letter from DODMERB if there is a change in status (ie: Waived Physical). It should also show up in the portal. The waiver request is automatic for the SAs when going through DODMERB. You would have to speak to each individually if you wanted to anymore information. Each SA would notify you if they waived the physical and accepted your child.

Thank you for the clarification.
We are hoping the waiver will be granted before April 15th. Is there a chance they would extend that deadline for a waiver, or is this the only chance? Can you be wait listed for an appointment with a waiver pending?
Please know how very much you are appreciated and that your knowledge helps so many of us through this process.
God bless you

If the waiver is not granted by 15 APR, I don't expect there to be an extension. However, it is possible to reapply to SAs in follow on years.

Do you have any idea on what the chances are for a waiver at this point? As a parent we want our DS to be prepared for the worst news and hopeful for the best news~

@rlrmilitarymom , we are in the same boat, waiting for waiver. It is a waiver-able condition and we have turned in everything they have asked for. Is it possible everything could come together at this point?

Hi MohawkArmyROTC,
My daughter has received letter of appointment to USAFA but there is a condition in the letter that she has to clear her medical disqualification. She is now waiting for a waiver. She already had accepted her appointment however.
Do you know what will happen if she hasn't got a waiver by April 15? Would her appointment be canceled ?

@ebotterb3 Our DS also has a waiver-able condition. Our son fractured his foot playing lacrosse in Aug 2016 and has completely recovered. He is in the same boat and also waiting and hoping for a waiver BEFORE April 15th. @ MohawkArmyROTC is a good source/contact for information. Keeping our fingers crossed for you also. Good luck and GOD BLESS

Good Morning MohawkArmyROTC~
Today is the 4 week mark since our DS received his DQ from DODMERB. We are hoping this Good Friday, good news will come from DoDMERB & USMA/USNA & USAFA
