In the Quantico, VA area today attending a commissioning ceremony for one of DS' friends from college. Charlie Company of OCC just graduated, so there were a lot of newly minted 2 Lts. wandering around today. Every one of them was as proud as a peacock, as well they should be. One of them was the NROTC MO friend of my son who was unable to do OCS last summer due to an injury, so he completed this OCC after his December graduation. The wife and I came up for it. DS and some of the other folks from college came up as well. It was good to see them all. After the ceremony all the Marine Options went to get fitted for their expensive dress blue uniforms. One of them said it was the most money he ever spent, at one time, in his life. I recall a few times when I said that earlier in life! I'm sure he'll have several more occasions to make that same utterance.
While they were doing that, my wife and I went to the National Museum of the Marine Corps again. I think it was our third visit. I always get teary eyed in there. Every. Single. Time. If you ever get a chance to visit, you should do so. It's one of the best museums I've ever been to. Very moving.
