Please inform us...why are they asked to learn this one? And why the one about the cow?

Because the lacteal fluid extracted from the female of the bovine species is highly prolific to the nth degree, of course

True, google is good for the easy answer.

Bugle Notes has nothing on the why.

I'll wait awhile before posting his version of the answer to see if anything better comes along.

Should I start learning the information on that website? Are there any entries on the page that are not correct or are not necessary to learn?

Thanks for any help

Good question - I asked the same thing before my summer and was told to forget about the whole thing until I actually got here. Was advised that my remaining weeks as a senior in HS would be better spent having fun, which I did, and personally didn't really have trouble with bugle notes.

If you think you'll have trouble with it, looking at it might be a good idea. However, if you're coming to USMA, you're probably really smart...most of my classmates didn't have too much trouble with knowledge. Or, since it factors into your military grade over the summer, if you're gung ho you could look at it to help you get that A.

Thanks for the advice. I'm usually pretty quick at memorizing and learning new information, so I think I'll scan the information once or twice but memorize it completely when I'm at Beast.

This may have been answered already but, I know you cannot have a cell phone during BEAST, got that. Now, what about during the academic year? I heard someone say yes you can and others say you have a landline phone only, no cell.

Truth?

Both

Each cadet has their own landline.
You can have a cell too.

You'll get your phone back reorgy week if you bring it to rday, or your parents can bring it on Aday (I suggest this if possible, so there's no risk of it being misplaced)

No one has said you can't have a cell phone. The reality is that lots of cadets have terrible cell phone reception in the barracks and the landline phones obviously don't have that problem.

Also no phones in class obviously, so that really cuts down on how often you'll be reachable when combined with the lousy reception in the barracks. I personally don't plan on bothering with a phone, anyone I care to communicate with can find me online.

this may sound ridiculous, but is there ice cream available at WP? like in the mess hall or the commissary? ice cream helps me relax when i'm studying hard.

Mess hall serves ice cream often for dessert. It is always on sale in Grant Hall (basically the cadet snack bar). Also, there is an ice cream shop on post, in the shopping center next to the subway. Last, many company stores stock ice cream bars. Don't worry, there's plenty of frozen treats to help your studying sweet tooth.

my question concerns tattoos.
what if i got a tattoo before R-day? i know they do a medical exam right as soon as the NC's arrive. i was just wondering if it is some sort of violation of something.

Per Instructions for Candidates Offered Admission - Class of 2015:

TATTOO POLICY
In accordance with Army Regulation 670-1, any tattoo or brand anywhere on the head or face is prohibited except for permanent makeup. Tattoos that are not extremist, indecent, sexist or racist are allowed on the hands and neck. Tattoos or brands that are extremist, indecent, sexist, or racist are prohibited, regardless of location on the body, as they are prejudicial to good order and discipline within units.
Once accepted for admission to the academy, candidates are encouraged to remove brands or tattoos which fall into the prohibited categories above. Additionally, candidates should not receive additional tattoos or brands prior to R-Day. On R-Day cadet candidates will agree to receive no additional body modifications, such as tattoos, brands or body piercings while attending the academy and will have all tattoos, brands, and body piercings inspected for compliance with stated standards.
