Still in the game

Mail has come and gone in NY. We are still in it. Nothing but junk. Yay! Best of luck to the rest of the stalkers today.

No matter which direction my DS ends up going, I know it will be away from me and at this point I'm thinking I'm going to need a forum after this is all over to keep me from crying all the time because of my baby leaving the nest:) At work so won't be able to get the mail until get home, good luck to all today

Like many I have been watching this thread for a while and taking comfort in the solidarity of others in this game of waiting and have finally gotten up the nerve to make a post. Still alive in Minnesota although waiting for my mom to get home every night to check the mail is a nightmare. Turns out the spring break trip to Europe to visit a friend is slowly killing me this week, via the six hour time difference. When I bought the plane ticket I thought I surely would have heard by now. Guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow morning to see whether I survived this latest round of TWEs.

I don't know why I find so much solace in the posts on this thread as we wait and hope and mourn and rejoice. It's such a mishmash of emotions we share here. Our friends and family have been supportive as we've watched DS take this path, but being here feels warm and fuzzy in a way I don't fully understand. Somehow I think checking in here regularly has helped me cope better with this process. I appreciate the gentle reminders to relax and enjoy these last few months with DS at home. Thank you all for being here and for the support network you have become.

You have summed up this situation perfectly Kayaker! I sit at work checking the posts, switching to check any emails, then back to work. The emotions have been at times overwhelming. This support network provides a comfort that not many people outside are able to comprehend. Again, good luck to all today!

Ditto, kayaker.
Thanks to all for their support. I never did like roller coasters. White knuckling this week!

I have never been so happy to have a mailbox full of junk mail, though my bank statement almost gave me a heart attack.

I live to wait another day in Florida. So the game goes on...

No luck here in Rhode Island. Will reapply for the second time when the 2019 app opens up.

Wow, this is me, too. Wait until DS actually accepts.

DD finally made a decision last night and officially accepted USAFA over USNA - toughest decision she's ever made (USAFA has electronic acceptance). She loved USNA, but she said in her heart she knew USAFA was the right choice for her.

The good news: this opens up a spot at the USNA for someone else! Good luck everyone!

Todays walk down the drive way to the mail box was the longest yet.

Happy and relieved to report NO TWE!

Stupid question

Just so we know when we go to the mailbox, what do the letters actually look like? I know one is white and one is manila....just looking into the mailbox, what would I see if its good news?

USAFA83GradWife,

So glad your DD was able to make that decision, was able to know her heart. Choosing between two wonderful options can be very daunting.

All the best to her!

The TWE is a normal-sized, white envelope that says Department of the Navy in the return address (along with their address). You'll know it when you see it. :-/

Very new here, wish we had known of the forum earlier. Congratulations to all, even those "unsuccessful" this year. Spectacular records for these candidates, and all should be proud.

Now...we already got the dreaded TWE...why am I so anxious today? I am rooting for ALL of you!!!! Glad to see there's some "no news is good news" out there anyway!!!

Thank you for your ongoing support dguts18. After Saturday, my hopes are slightly dimmer, although in my opinion, my DS would be an excellent Mid! About 2 hours to Zero Hour.

Best of luck to everyone on the thread as they continue to wait for their BFEs. Mail came around noon today and I received my second TWE for USNA. I will apply again next year from NMMI, but I hope for most of you that your first try is a success. I'm so glad to have had this support group through the process. I will also continue to check in on the good news as it comes.

Thank you for everything.

Oh the bloodbath continues....I'm heartbroken. My best buddy is in the TWE group now. But I'll let her post.

Well.....we got the dreaded TWE here in southern california. I know we join many other qualified candidates who have not made the cut. The DS is very quiet but i know he will rebound. He has a solid plan B in place with an appointment to the US Merchant Marine Academy in hand and other options still pending. I am still here with you folks so keep us all posted on the goings on today. You have all been lifesavers in this crazy process.
