But mrs m - didn't anyone tell USNA admissions about our plans for Annapolis this summer? I am sad for all but particularly sad for you my friend. Your support has meant the world to me. XO

Hope4myds,

DS was "second alternate" for TN-06, but did get an LOA in early fall, so with that, the USNA gave him the appt. About a week after getting the appt, he also received a nom from Senator Corker. It was our Congresswoman that called to give him the news though.

He has declined his appt however to accept an appointment at the Coast Guard Academy.

Best wishes to all of you still waiting. Our prayers go out to all as we know very well that could have been him getting the TWE.

Great kids with great plans, no matter what they end up doing.
Thank you for your immediate response.I am wondering if there is a chance if the appt could be given to the 1st alt .My DS also has a senatorial nom from Corker.

I received a TWE today. Still waiting on USAFA. But I do have a solid Plan B just in case. Thank you everyone for all the support and info during this process. Good luck to all the candidates that are still in the game!

Awww, shucks, this was not what I wanted to read this morning Mrs. M. I was rooting and praying for your DS everyday. I am so so sorry, I know how much your DS wanted this. It is so difficult the first few days, but it does get better. Your support and kind words when we got the TWE last week were so helpful and for that I am forever grateful. If your son is anything like you, I'm sure he will be successful and happy wherever he goes. I hope to be on this thread with you again next year. Big hugs.

I truly feel for all of you guys who got the TWE. Nevertheless, I am confident that all of you will succeed with your plan B's.

Do you guys think that since I live in MD and haven't gotten a TWE, that is a good sign? Wouldn't they have already denied me if I didn't make the cut because Annapolis is literally 55 minutes away from house?

Anxiously waiting with some of the rest of you....

when challeged look to past leaders.

If I had a so or daughter interested in a Naval career I'd take a moment to ponder Admiral Farragut's courageous order.

Damn the torpedoes (TWEs), Full speed ahead!"

Admiral David Glasgow Farragut (1801-1870). Aboard Hartford, Farragut entered Mobile Bay, Alabama, 5 August 1864, in two columns, with armored monitors leading and a fleet of wooden ships following. When the lead monitor Tecumseh was demolished by a mine, the wooden ship Brooklyn stopped, and the line drifted in confusion toward Fort Morgan. As disaster seemed imminent, Farragut gave the orders embodied by these famous words. He swung his own ship clear and headed across the mines, which failed to explode. The fleet followed and anchored above the forts, which, now isolated, surrendered one by one. The torpedoes to which Farragut and his contemporaries referred would today be described as tethered mines.

That's exactly what I intend to do...

So sorry to hear about another day of TWE's!

DS doesn't get home for a few more hours. Terrified of that little black box! At this point I just want to know...but at the same time, I want to know that it's a yes!

Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the kind words...i am keeping my St. Anthony candle burning for the remainder of today for the rest of you! Maybe some of us will meet back here next year..same bat time, same bat channel...but keep your handles so we remember each other!!!

So very sorry for the TWE's and it is so very gut wrenching.

So much has already been said by others on the thread that I +1 and then some, so I thought I would share the quote of the day that my DS has on his wipe board.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
― Maya Angelou

Nothing here but Plan C & D packets.

Here in So Ca waiting with the rest of you....a few more hours for the mail. I honestly have no idea what to expect. Hoping for the best of course. My heart goes out to all of you that have received TWE's.

Tic toc...

Hope4myds,

As to your question, once a TWE is issued, I don't think they go back on that and reconsider. Especially based on another nominee declining an appt that was issued. I could be wrong, and I am sure there are exceptions, but that's my take on everything I read.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any more questions. Again, I am truly sorry about his TWE.

Well, the TWE arrived today. DS is not a happy camper in MS-03. Plan C is locked and loaded, Plan B is coming together. Best of luck to all who are still in the running. So much hard work, for such an extended period of time, by all the candidates who have made it this far. Fair winds and following seas.

So sorry to all with twe's. Thinking today would be better news for all. Still praying for all who have recieved good news, bad news, and those still waiting....May God bless the paths of all these great kids.

Mrs m, I'm especially sorry to hear your news. You have been such an encourager to all.

Well when I started this thread I was hopeful DS would be going to USNA. But our journey ended today with the TWE arrival. DS is taking it like a trooper. Already planning to reapply April 1 and looking forward to plan B. Thank you all for your wonderful support and humor on this long and winding road. You all have made it bearable. Best of luck to those still in the game.
