How often is more than one student admitted from the same High School? Lets say one is a recruited Athlete and one is not, but has a great and impressive admissions package?

Many, many times. I've had up to four admitted from the same school. I would not worry about that being an issue.

From our HS, class of 08: two to USMA, one AOG to MMI (just reported to WP last week). From a HS across town: 3 2008 football recruits (did a year at USMAPS), reported last week. I've seen several news releases locally where students from same school are appointed to same academy. Last year on this site there was a student from a school where four had appointments to USNA. They want the best at the academies...good schools often produce multiple good candidates.

Last year, my school sent four students to USAFA and four to USMA.
This year, five to USAFA, three to USMA, and one to USNA.

Wow, where are they getting the Nominations from?

Last year our NJROTC Senior NS Instructor and also the local Blue and Gold officer said it was highly unlikely two students from the same school would receive appointments. At the time, we had 4 or 5 students competing for the Naval Academy and I asked both men this question.

Our school: my son got nom from senator A, other student from senator B. Both got congressman, too. Son and other student both had LOAs, so they only needed to be on the slate, not top person. Third student was AOG prep, so his nom was a year later...he got senator A and congressman. The school w/ the football players, well, sometimes they use the side door

Last year there were 5 Midshipman and 3 USMA Cadets addending the two Academies from my mids former highschool. One factor here is 2 congressional districts overlap the school district. So yes it is possible to have mutiple kids from the same school and class attend

Our congressman had 6 kids going into USAFA, 3 each into USNA and USMA and 1 into USMMA this year.

Since he can nominate up to 10 per academy, I suppose that would be the max.

While the number you are asking about is 5, that's a little misleading. Last year when my son started, the senator who nominated him presented a slate of 10 (as they all do). Nine of the 10 had appointments. The primaries get in, but then the others get in based on having an LOA or being ranked high on the national waiting list. The one who didn't get in had a DoDMERB issue that couldn't be resolved. Again, this is different state by state, and in a super competitive region things might not work out like they do in our state.

Wow. My gym teacher- the one helping me practice for the CFA- applied to USNA, but his nomination sources (don't know the state) at the time would only pick one kid per school, and another kid got the noms. The kid lasted 3 days and came home, because the cadre yelled to him. My teacher has never forgiven the kid. That story makes me laugh every time. Where the hell did the kid think he was going?

Four are attending USNA Class of 2013 (five were admitted) from my daughter's graduating high school class. Two received nominations from the same Congressman.

I live near a fairly prominent AFB, so a lot of students compete for presidential nominations. On top of that, students do not have to be a MOC's #1 choice to attend. Many also get in off of the national waiting list.

I know how many a MOC may Nominate, I'm talking about their quotas of students in the SA per year, at the same time. There is a number allowed and yes, they do work with other districts so as not use up all their quota in one year.

Maximus, I am not sure about a state quota. I know last year, Georgia sent 40 new cadets. This year the number was similar.

    Maximus -
Each US Senator and US Representative is allowed to have 5 (FIVE) cadets or mids in attendance at each of USNA, USMA, USADA that is CHARGED TO HIM/HER.

Lots of kids get appointments without their nomination being charged to a US Rep or Senator. They get in through a Presidential, ROTC, or other service connected nominations.
Also, emply slots that are not used up in Congressional appointments allow additional appointments to be made. These are not charged to their Congressman or Senator.

There is no state quota or county quota or school quota.

USNA: For the State of Georgia there were 36 direct appointments, 6 appointments from foundation schools and 7 appointments from NAPS for a total of 49 appointments. The official number of Midshipmen who accepted appointments from the state was 43. We had 42 that that were to report on IDay as one was injured prior to IDay and would not be in the class of 2013.

We also have 12 going to NAPS and 2 going to Foundation programs. So ultimately the state had 63 applicants make it through the system to USNA and affiliated programs.

Georgia has 13 congressional district so a total of 15 nominating sources attributed to the state. We have very active JROTC units which can give nominations and many of our kids also receive presidential as many military retiree's in the state. Lets also not forget the Supe's discretionary appointments/nominations. Plenty of places for the applicants from GA to obtain nominations and ultimately an appointment.

As far as we know, the USNA Parent Club of GA, there is no state quota. The nominating quotas can be found in the USNA Catalog on the USNA we page.

Of our kids entering USNA this year we had 4 High Schools that are sending more than 1 to USNA. (If you count in the Naps and Foundation kids, one high school has 4 attending in the class of 2013) The amazing thing is one of those high schools that had 2 direct appointments, the kids ended up in the same Company (platoon)
