Congrats Disey. Been following your saga like the Gulf Oil spill, but in a good way!:biggrin: Wow, June 9th. My DS will apply for the class of 2015. It's great to know there is hope up until the very end!

Many, many congratulations to your son! Good things do come to those who wait, and you guys are proof of that. Next year, around this time, I am guessing there will be a few hopefuls hanging out on the waitlist who will take comfort in your postings.

Get ready...the ride of a lifetime is about to begin!! :biggrin:

Big News

Just got big news. My son received his call this week and got an appointment! This has been a real roller coaster for us. We would have posted sooner but have all been spinning since we had resigned ourselves that the academy was not going to happen this year. Son is pumped! It is still sinking in for the rest of us. Hard to imagine only two weeks to get mentally prepared for R day. He will be fine- His mom and I are the ones I am worried about! Hopefully we can make it without our "allergies" bothering us when we drop him off.

I have been a silent follower on this thread for months and feel like I know so many of the posters. We are so fortunate that our son will share his experience with so many great individuals. All the candidates , both appointed and not, should be proud of all they have accomplished.

Congratulations! I noticed you are from Indiana. Let me be the first to invite you to the Swab Family Picnic hosted by the Great Lakes Chapter of the Coast Guard Academy Parents Association. The Swab Picnic will be held at the Coast Guard Station Michigan City, Indiana at noon central time. We will provide burgers and hot dogs and ask participants bring a desert or other dish to pass. We will have lots of helpful information and a chance for Swabs to meet each other and for "Swab Parents" to chat with parents who have already experienced Swab year.

To Everyone Everywhere...

I woke up this morning wondering "Did it really happen..." We're all in a fog these past two days...I can't thank everyone enough for all the words of support and the PM's when I needed it the most...:redface:

To those individuals who did not make it this year I can tell you this has been a two year ride for us...tell your son/daughter to NEVER GIVE UP! If they want it reapply!! :thumb: :shake:

I guess my next shock will be seeing an actual BFE in the mail today & it's not Progressive's renewal LOL!!...I think the ladies down at the post office deserve more than choc chip cookies this year...wouldn't you agree? :wink:
