Tragic News

As I write this post, my eyes are tearing up. The parents and family should not be dealing with a such a situation. My heart goes out to the family and the USMMA. You are in all of our prayers. God Bless

We little knew that morning,

God was going to call your name,

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

You did not go alone,

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,

Your love is still on guide,

And though we cannot see you,

You are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one-by-one,

The chain will link again.

Memorial Service for Marisa Sanchez

Thank you to everyone at KP involved in the memorial service for Marisa Sanchez. Not only did the academy and the administration including Capt. Fell and Dean Kumar do everything possible, according to Marisa's mom, to care for Marisa's family, the KP chaplain and the mids prepared a beautiful and touching farewell to Marisa. Chaplain Silas knew Marisa personally and brought those memories to everyone there. Hearing taps played and "Eternal Father" sung by the regiment while every mid stood at attention was awe-inspiring. I pray that the service gave Marisa's family some measure of comfort as they struggle with the loss of their lovely daughter. Everyone should be proud to have their son or daughter at this institution.

And many thanks to you kpbaseballmom for providing such a touching description of yesterday's service. Your words help lighten such heavy hearts.

My DS, who is in 1st Company, said he felt that the memorial service was just what it should have been - just what Marisa would have wanted. He said it felt almost as if she was there, and they were saying Goodbye to her in the most appropriate way.

Ultimately, a memorial service is to comfort and support those who are left behind, who mourn the absence of the departed. It seems as though the service beautifully performed the function of letting those who loved and cared for Marisa honor her and start to find some peace with the tragedy of her passing.

This is great to hear, as good as something so unexpected and sad can be. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with Marissa, her family and friends.
