Unspeakable Acts Against Israeli Babies

There's been a weird argument on X for days about whether this is true or not. No one seems to be arguing whether babies were slaughtered. That alone is despicable. The method of dispatch is irrelevant to me.

... so maybe it's faith that I'm looking at this post...

With advanced warnings MSNBC, 5 minutes ago, just published images of infants in horrific contortions. Is there still morality in Gaza??

And seeing all the pro-Hamas demonstrations here, I'd ask about the state of morality in our own country.
... got it. If I start ranting about that here in this forum, I will get banned by moderators... trying to stave off a banishment 😬

Well, based on your stated service record, I'd hope you'd get some slack. Your tactical observations are much appreciated by this non-vet.

The demonstrations on the campus at which I work were pro-Palestinian, not pro-Hamas.
Please take this in the spirit of a honest discourse, when we were these demonstrations? I struggle with the idea that any "We stand with Palestine" demonstration that was soon after the Hamas attack and before any Israeli counter-attack as being purely Palestinian support bereft of Hamas supporters.

Didn’t they elect Hamas as their government?

I saw a recent poll that said 57% of Palestinians support what Hamas did.

I don't know the %, but that was my understanding. I believe Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005 and Hamas was elected in 2007.

This is correct. . which is why I'm puzzled by the statements the the Israelis are occupiers .. at least in this context. Can't say I'm up to speed on the West Bank.

Trying to figure out how to lay out my thoughts on your previous post and the idea of Palestine vs. Hamas. It’s a an emotionally fraught time and there’s extra stuff that comes with that… That said, specifically in terms of today’s demonstrations, most of the participating students were of Palestinian descent and raising awareness to their view that they are a wrongfully displaced people. I strongly believe that a person can argue about/raise awareness of their beliefs re: Palestinian geopolitics, oppression, diaspora, and/or the living conditions of those in Gaza and condemn Hamas and their actions. There are examples of this dichotomy in our nation’s own history.

I am not the expert here, but I believe Fatah (the former PLO) controls the West Bank. Hamas took over Gaza from them. To say the situation is complicated is an understatement.

I just assumed they meant Israel, as a state, is occupying their “homeland” by its very existence. Though, could also be a specific reference to annexation of Jerusalem?

"Emotionally fraught" is an apt descriptor. I pray civilian casualties on all sides are limited. I do become concerned when I hear chants of "river to the sea" and "Intifada" within some of these demonstrations. Hopefully, calmer heads prevail.

Agreed, but not hopeful.
