USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Hey if you are listed as fully qualified and have been for months what are your chances of getting a BFE in this first wave.

If you are the vacancy winner for your MOC - then the odds are good. :thumb:

3Q'd + MOC vacancy winner = Appointment!

Hey bpq42

How did WP send your BFE? Overnight, express, next day, 1st class, mule or on the back of a barefoot Plebe?

Sir,

Looking at the pictures Admissions put up, it looks like USPS Priority Flat-Rate Envelopes (Used to be a shipper for a company).

The envelope says priority flat rate mail....I only live two hours from West Point so I assume that is why I received it so early.

Tug_Boat, I've been reading your posts about you and your son. Good luck to the both of you and he is in my prayers along with everyone else waiting.

Tomorrow is Sunday, be humble and give thanks....

Thanks guys for the kind words, Ken and bpq! Ken I know you have gone through the ringer before and know how agonizing this process can be. I guess we will hear or not hear about a BFE on Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday would be the latest. My DS has been with me the last two days since he doesn’t have classes on those days. It’s been long 14-hour days on the boat with one trip to San Diego for 60’ (cattle) fishing vessel that was re-claimed. (the guy couldn’t keep up on the payments, sign of the times). My DS took up his favorite spot up against the rail in the open deck to feel the sharp chill in the air. Surprisingly, my DS hasn’t bugged me to check the Internet every five seconds. I do, and DS glances over to read my face.

The candidates who are 3Q’d with a nom have nothing to worry about. I know we all want to be there when Ike Hall closes its castle doors behind you on R-Day. But you have to look at the big picture and understand you are the top 1% of all college students. From here you can apply to any school, because you qualify. Not many students or people in general have this magic behind them. Academics, athletics and leadership as the pillars of your resume that reflect you character, it’s a very rare combo. Private industry is thirsty for this talent to lead their organization to be competitive in the global market. I know, I park container and inter-modal vessels all day long overflowing with trade. Most of the vessels are coming here, not as much going out.

Hold your heads up high and stand above the crowd, not because the world owes you it. Because you’ve earned it!

For those who do not receive the BFE, like a juggler, you must make a conscience decision. When you drop whatever your juggling, eggs, bowling pins, chain saws, you ask yourself, do I pick it up or walk away?
Your character will be forged, through adversity.

I offer a fathers prayer to you all.

Thank you Tug. Your words of wisdom and encouragement are such a blessing to me when I read them. Hopefully your son and I will see each other on R-Day!

Armystrong

I would hope so. Thank you for the kind words. I feel more of kinship to you and others who are reapplying. Its noble to still work hard for your dreams. Not many people have those any more. If you look out into the crowds, it resembles zombies more than dreamers. If you two make it into Class of 2017 spend a day with us on the boat after BCT. From DS's spot on the rail you can watch the dolphins leading us. I think thats why he's likes it so much.

Tug_boat

Tug, I have only found this forum about a week and a half ago, and just finally registered yesterday. I have really found comfort as a father of a DS who is 3Qd, with a nom. The wait has been killing me, although he seems to be calm and cool about the whole situation. I find myself checking this forum and his portal all the time to see if there are any changes. Your posts have help me keep my sanity through it all.

Blessings to you and your son. Praying that his BFE will be in the mailbox soon!

Snave - i found this forum a few months ago and wish I had found it a couple of years ago. As a parent this forum has provided insight and more importantly, comfort as my ds has worked through this process. So,thanks to tug and all the other parent and ds' who have shared their knowledge. So knowing the mail does not run today at the very least gives me a break for one day from wondering exactly what time the mailman will be at our house! A prayer will go out today for all who will and will not get an answer this coming week. Best of luck out there...

Strange how nobody from California is finding out if they got accepted...

Being from California I couldn't help but notice that no one on the west coast has found out. Maybe the west coast is on their own timeline. But most likely we are looking for patterns that don't really exist in an attempt to comfort ourselves. . . .

Me Too

I'm new to the forum as well and find it very educational. Tug_boat, I find myself looking forward to your next posts. It's like waiting for the next episode of my favorite TV show. Good luck to your son next week.

If you don't consider the portal or MOC call, then that would just be the post office. Priority only takes a day or two to reach the surrounding region, maybe 3-4 to reach the opposite coast.

The Admisions Representative for our area sent our DS an email yesterday indicating that West Point Admisions will be sending offers on Feb 26 by email to those that have been awarded an apointment. I guess this is to make sure that everyone finds out on Feb 26 in case the mail is running slow. Our DS is 3Q a Principal Nom.

I pray I'm blessed enough to stand beside your son at R-Day hopefully, and meet the both of you.

My son was a recrited athlete , but football did not pick up him. The coach called him just before national signing day..He is from CA-53 , with nomination. We have had not futher communication. Would be it not be appropriate if all waiting would get the same e-mail.

Saints2013 - As we've seen over the past year, each of the RC's really does do things his or her own way. I wouldn't take not getting an email either way. This waiting is so hard. Especially given the numbers. I wish you all the best.

Tug, I hope for the chance to meet you this summer. Will be thinking of you and your son over the next few days.

Okay, probably like every other 3Q waiting till tommorow or tuesday, I am super anxious. I have no idea what type of nominations my MOC's do, all I know is I have four nominations. What are my chances with the four and being a 3Q.

P.S. Tug reading your responses and posts of encouragement has helped me to not completely lose it these past couple of days. I hope if I get in that I will have the honor of meeting you and your son.
