Watch out for the new Army PT test tomorrow

I'm thinking about the poor ROTC cadre stuck on campuses and those other people not on bases like recruiters in large cities. Now they will have to head to base to practice on the balance beams and whatnot where before they could qualify by training at home.

Not complaining. I think there is too much detachment from the "realistic drills" with the current setup.

Most ROTC departments have the necessary tools for cadre to practice this test. Additionally, most ROTC cadre I've met are in quite good shape, considering they run around with 18-21+ year olds on a daily basis.

Don't doubt you on the conditioning of the cadre, although the cadre I've talked to typically work out separately from their cadets so as not to interfere with the cadet leadership development. I know when I used to work out at the local university gym in the morning (same time as ROTC), I never saw cadre participating and the local PMS did mention that he tends to work out at a different time of day.

And it wouldn't surprise me if most locations had the equipment available to them, but not necessarily the ability to keep the course up and available on a regular basis (they don't have their own dedicated training facility on most campuses).

I imagine though with a bunch of cadets to qualify, it will probably get set up and torn down at least once a week for everyone to work out. Just one more thing to manage, I guess.

I agree. My SMI, after he finishes with us during our workout, continues for another hour on his own. He's a freak of nature though....
