Who is still waiting?

grtkidmom,

Sooooo sorry!.. hope you hang around long enough...sending you a pm!

Sorry to hear about all the TWEs :frown: We just returned home...nothing in the mail but on our caller ID it showed the Naval Academy called but NO MESSAGE!!! What does this mean?? Any advice?

We received a call last month. In our case, they were wanting to know if candidate had already accepted an offer from another academy so they could withdraw her application from consideration. Understandable, I think, with the number of applications as high as it is this year.

anyone else going to be a bulldog with me starting this fall?

so disappointed for the April group...

grtkidmom, CRONUSmom, and dear harmi,

Your kids are very fortunate to have such passionate, supportive, encouraging parents. My 80 year old in-laws called today to say that although we are all too young to believe this "things truly will work out for the best ." (I'm 49, old enough to know how true that is!) Small comfort...but it made me smile.

Again we have some things in common, my husband (USNA "82...ugh!) got his master's from VA Tech. And my niece is finishing her doctorate at Michigan.

I hope you will sign on to the forum again. Let's start our own and keep in touch to share and update our kids successes. Next year we can sign on and give all the April candidates good news about looking forward.

Let me know if you'd like a new forum and I will get it going!

Thanks, harmi! Any chance they could have forgotten my sweet DD? haha!

No...they are saving the BEST apps for last!! Hang in there...Wishing you and her the very best of luck!! Hoping for good news for you and her today my friend!!

Great idea shortmom. I think we could offer some support and encouragement to the next group.

The dreaded TWE just arrived in the mail. Obviously it was not what we were hoping for, but on we go to Plan B.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

I am so sorry to hear that HappyCamper...it is like a grieving process for sure...but as you move forward it gets much easier...don't look back...best wishes!!

We're out

Took a little longer for the TWE to arrive on the West Coast but it came today. It has been a very long process but I still believe in the process itself. We have gotten to know what motivates our son and why he wants to serve. Summer seminar gave us our first taste of what our house is going to be like when he leaves. The waiting, well that just plain stunk but I think we learned something from that as well. I will post a timeline for those hanging around next year. Ready or not, here he comes Penn State!

I know good things are on the way for your son! Best of luck!

TWE arrived at our home just a few minutes ago. Son said "oh well, I'll reapply next year." On to UCLA or UC Berkeley and NROTC. We already sort of dealt with the disappointment when he'd first been told he was one of two to get a principal nom and then a week later was told there actually was only one to give, and it was given to the other candidate. Knew he still had a chance, but it was slim. Thanks to all for advice, encouragement and good luck to those who haven't heard yet and those who are wait-listed.

TWE came in today for my son.

Plan B to VMI on NROTC/Marine scholarship. He says he is going to keep applying until he's in or too old. Either way, I'm sure things will work out and he'll either find that VMI is really his preference or he'll make it to USNA next year.:thumb:

I am looking forward to learning what held him back this year.

Thanks to all you positive people for making this month and all this waiting tolerable.
We are still waiting for USNA. We have received a "qualified, no vacancy' letter from AFA.

How did you find out about the wait list? I know of 3 kids in our state who have not yet accepted the appointment.

They sent me a letter that said I'm on the waitlist
