Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

Interesting. My DS has a 3.85 uw gpa and got a 23 ACT (1140 SAT) and just received a 3-Year. His extracurriculars and athletics also great. VP of his class, multiple club president, co-captain soccer team, etc. So, maybe not that far from the cutoff between 3-Year and 4-Year line on the OML.

Also, for all those who fret about ACT/SAT scores, I wanted to wait until board results were in before saying this, but please hear me: STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES ARE NOT EVERYTHING. I knew my DS's ACT score was mediocre, but I also knew the rest of his application was really strong. He had a great interview and got great feedback on that. I just want to encourage everyone who may not have received an offer yet that you should not lose hope. None of you are defined by your test score. It's just part of the process, and if you've proven yourself inside and outside the classroom for four years, and you really demonstrate that through your application and interview, you had a good chance of earning a scholarship.

I am rooting for all of you still playing the "waiting game." It's hard, but it honestly does not matter whether you get a scholarship in October, January or March. They all count the same!
YES! 👆🏼 This! My son worked his tail off to get his test scores up. He managed a 25 on the ACT and 11 something on the SAT. Not all that remarkable compared to what I’ve seen on this forum and he was awarded a 4 year scholarship for NROTC. Tells me he made up for that in other areas. So if yours tests scores are mid, strengthen the rest of the items on the checklist and you’ve given yourself a chance.

so if it didnt update by now we didnt get it?
Cadet Command can only tell the asker their personal results. Until you ask Cadet Command / Your ROO or are notified otherwise in the portal you won't really know.

That a bit of a relief to hear haha! I only got a 1200 on my SATs no matter how hard I tried to improve it.
My stats currently are:
-GPA:3.5/4
-Weighted GPA: 4.1/5.3
- 2 AP Classes
- 6 Honor Classes
- 7 Varsity Letters across 4 years(School Record Holder)
- Team Captain of the Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track Team
I maxed out the running portion and sit up portion of the fitness test and got 40 on the push ups. Really really hope I get this scholarship! I'm almost certain I want to go to VMI and this would help so much

If you don't get one now, my guess is you will be very competitive for the March board. Good luck!

I mean, your stats look competitive. But only Cadet Command can tell you your status.

Will we hear about AFROTC next week? I thought the 2nd board was only for space force?

Second board (wrapping up today) is space force only. I think next AF board is 2/26 - 3/1. Results could come earlier, but estimated notification is 3/15. AROTC acceptance is due by 3/9.

Ah, ok thanks.

If we mark on the one of schools in the winner letter and submit it, can we change a school later? The letter said that we should turn it in no later than 03/09, but we have to scale which schools will provide additional funding to fill out 1st year cost by contacting each school's financial office.

should I accept my scholarship if I am waiting for West Point or a four year in March?

You can accept it and then turn it down if you are accepted to an academy. Congratulations!!

My son's portal still says Boarded/UC. It seems it is still "stuck" there and not yet moved to Board Ready for the March board, or Winner from the January board. Seems like limbo. Anyone else have the same experience so far?
Yes, DD says the same and she has been told by her ROO and DH, a former APMS, that she is extremely competitive. Based on replies here, we won't be worried until the "WInners" red flag is on the site
Why do you ask?
The SAs are quite different in temperament, and the branches are also pretty different. We know people who wanted 1 of 2 favorite branches or wanted a SO or a ROTC experience, but I've never met anyone who would be equally interested in 5 branches of service! (20+ year military family, DH was in 2 branches of service and an OCS grad after a 4 year enlistment). Best of success to your son on his path.

I have an active duty Navy son, an AFROTC Space Force 4 year scholarship winner middle son, and now this DS is interested mostly in AF but is open to all branches. There is no one way of doing anything, including this. Many times people don't know what they are interested in or driven by until they experience it.

PMS and ROO all have the JAN board list now, contact them if you're in the "Under Consideration" category...At this point, that means you're moving onto the final, March board. *Your file is not "re-boarded" - only new applications are boarded, but then everything is racked together to build an order of merit list.

Don't worry, my kid is in that same situation, his still says "Under Consideration" for January board, but just talked with a ROO buddy and he's not on the list. Sometimes, it doesn't make sense. Welcome to the military. He was considered in the OCT board, now JAN, and onto MAR to see what's up.

Some of his data: 4.3 Weighted/3.75 Unweighted GPA. 8 Varsity Letters. 3-year captain of the ice hockey team, captain of the lacrosse team, and 3-year captain of the club soccer team. President of the Latin Club, National Honor Society, Youth Hockey Coach, Church Groups, etc. Maxed PMS interview and PT (I know because I saw it in CCIMS).

He's already accepted and declared to his #1 school (R1, Land Grant, flagship university) and has tuition covered by other means. This is room and board, book, and living expenses funds. If he ends up without it, everything will be fine - just have some loans to pay off down the road.
