USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

A classmate at my DS's HS got his appointment last week. Does this mean my DS now has a lower chance of acceptance?

Wondering if their is a "limit" to how many can get appointments from the same HS or District?

His chances aren’t necessarily affected by his classmate getting accepted.

It’s a competition until it’s over. There are some competitive high schools that have gotten multiple appointments. There are multiple threads on this topic.

Thanks for your reply. I will relay the message to my DS as he was bummed out.

Small private school class size of 150 had 2 appointments for USNA just two years ago. One got the appointment in March, one was waitlisted and got appointment end of May. These two kids are now successful 3/Cs, my daughter is one of them. Don’t give up hope.

Thank you. This will give hope to my DS for sure.

My high school last year had two people get appointments, and both were in the same district! I was unfortunately not one of the two, but it is possible!

Admissions told my mentor the other day that my application is being reviewed tomorrow.. any idea of how long the turnaround time is between reviewing & hearing any results?
No idea. Could be a day, could be a few weeks. With you being a prior your slotting for a nom is probably much clearer. Not sure on your age, but NAPS is always an option too.

Keep in mind all applicants are encouraged to apply for as many nom sources as they are eligible for. At a minimum, that is 2 Senators, 1 Representative and VP. Others might also be eligible for ROTC nom, Presidential nom, disabled vet parent nom, etc.

Additionally, the DoD SAs have nom authorities they manage which allow them to offer appointments to other fully qualified candidates on a slate. Only 1 appointee on a slate of 10 is “charged” to the elected official.

See the link below for “Noms 101” info. It’s due to be updated, but the basics are there on nom types.
