USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

where we live - many of the high schools have multiple kids appointed - dont worry about that.....my daughter who is a 2C had many (cant remember the exact number around 6-7) from the same congressman get appointments - they all went to USNA too!!!
Thanks for the reply.. My DS would love that info!

Also turned 21 at NAPS. Difference was, I was stationed in Germany with the Army before that. Servicemen over18 could legally drink in-country at that time. :p

I do have to say, being "old" when I started Plebe summer was one of the big factors in me deciding to DoR. It kinda pissed me off that these "kids" with no real experience were bossing me around when I already had earned a right patch (Army acknowledgenent of serving in a combat unit deployed during a war). I had an unnecessary chip on my shoulder that just didn't go away.

My Navy unit was one of the first to deploy during DS/DS and came under fire from Iraqi Scud missiles while I was in Plebe Summer & Plebe Year. I came real close to quitting so I could go back.

Has anyone seen any appointments from New York? I’m still pending and hopeful!

I didn’t want start a new thread for this, but does anyone know if foundation students get their appointments earlier than other people? Or are they on the same timeline? Bc ik I’ll have to get more nominations but was wondering if I’ll have to wait a while, which I’m fine with.

I don't know about Navy foundation, but it looks like falcon foundation appointments usually come out the week of February 10th each year. I bet if you looked at last year's appointment thread you can see when they were handed out. If it's like USAFA, they are all appointed near the same time.

I turned 21 at NAPS as an EMFN (E-3) and had my first legal beer in Newport!
That’s awesome

I felt that hahaha, I was just stationed in Japan.

I have heard that being a prior at USNA isn’t always great because of that, and how frustrating it is having to listen to people with 0 experience tell you how the fleet is going to be. What did you do when you DoR?

They usually hear back latest compared to all other applicants in the cycle.

Yeah, we deployed from our base in Stuttgart to Riyadh. Our birds were on the private plane side of Riyadh International Airport. We were sleeping in the terminal once Desert Storm started. Full MOP suits donning a few times as the SCUDs were inbound. Watched a few get shot at by Patriot defense missiles through the glass (with my 1st SGT yelling at me to get away from the windows). Then got deployed further north to set up our forward air command. Spent the rest of my time in Saudi there.

Day after I got back from Saudi, I met with the Spec Ops recruiter to start paperwork to apply for the Q course for Green Berets (I had just gotten my E-4, so was eligible). No joke, literally the next day I got my NAPS offer. Took a few months to get Sec Army office approval to release me from my contract, outprocess me, and get me back stateside. I reported to NAPS a week late, so missed some of the shenanigans.

They also wouldn't transfer my rank when they enlisted me into the Navy for the NAPS contract, so I was back to an E-1. That kinda set the tone for my disgruntlement. I actually did well there, and they made me Company Commander for the 1st trimester. My heart was already not in it by the middle of the year.

I did fine during PS. It was easy. Tested into a higher Math, validated English, smoked the PRT, even made it to the second set of detailers. But i just wasn't mentally there. I went to Tango Company (drop out company during the summer), had to debrief all the way up to the Dant, which I don't know if that was SOP, but didnt seem to be per my understanding. Then got released.

I was from Annapolis, so one of the Tango firsties actually drove me to my parent's place. My Dad was stationed in San Diego, and they were renting the house to my brother, so I just moved in. I was released honorably from my Navy contract.

I am happy to be representing my country Mongolia at the Naval Academy Class Of 2028!
I can't believe it to be honest. I put blood, sweat and to reach this point, now that I'm here it sounds like a dream.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I will do my best to make my country, my former unit, my family, and my beloved proud.
I want to thank everyone in this server from the bottom of my heart. Without your kindness, kinship and wisdom, I couldn't have done it!
See you all at I-Day!
GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY HOOOYAAAH!
Congratulations!
