USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

I think the term CPR last year might have meant something different than the term CPR this year .. I think last years CPR was the equivalent to this years “pending” (remember back in Nov/Dec a bunch went from CPR to pending - the conclusion was that it was just a change in terminology). Just my recall from old posts - Im sure there are others than can more accurately compare last years portal status terminology to this years.

TOTALLY agree with this 💯

What are the odds at this point? I am assuming that they are getting worse by the hour. Any point in still hoping? I haven't gotten a no yet, but it looks like a majority of appointments have been handed out.
Not necessarily decreasing by the hour, as it could be right now they are rejecting people before they waitlist/accept others. But candidates as a whole don’t have good odds for an acceptance right now, as it should be safe to assume most acceptances have been sent out at this point. But that doesn’t mean that YOU singularly have bad odds, it could be they are just getting some things done before accepting you.

I’m a pretty qualified candidate with good stats and I know that I am 3Q and that no one from my district has been accepted yet. So I don’t really know what my odds are, I would imagine they are higher than pending candidates as a whole though, simply due to the fact that I’m still competing for my district slot.

Has anyone posted USNA or NAPS waitlist yet? If not, that a pretty big category that came out this week last year. At least there is that category to hopefully balance the TWE wave(s)!

About 20-25 last year posted acceptances from April 10th on - not sure how many of those came off the waitlist.

There’s always hope (til there’s not!) but I do think TWEs will be the majority from here on out (at least by looking at what was reported last year).

Just did some digging and found out that my MOC (NC-12) made press releases back in February stating who she had appointed to USAFA, West Point, And USNA. 2 people to USNA and USAFA, and 1 person to West Point. Going by the 5 at a time rule, I'm sure I am out of the running for appointment for my district as I am still pending on CIS. While this did bring my morale down... it's not over till it's over. Still hoping and praying for NAPS or for status change.

How do you know your district slot wasn’t taken?

How do you check to see if appointments for your district have been given?

There is no real official way. You can look at the 2028 offers of appointment post, but the feeling is we only see roughly 10% of the actual official appointments. You can exercise your Google-Fu and look for news/press releases, you can scour Facebook posts from different groups, but there really is now way to tell. You're in it until your not.

VP nom could still be in the mix. Don't Give Up the Ship!

True! I however only received the one Nom from my MOC.

I haven't posted here in a hot minute - my last post was probably right around this time last year during the big purge - but I just wanted to say that I have empathy for everyone who got the TWE today! I applied to USNA three times, and unfortunately ended up with the TWE every year (after being waitlisted the second year, that TWE definitely stung a little extra). I know it sucks big time, but it doesn't have to be the end of the road if your goal is to be a naval officer! I'm now happily on the PLC path and working with a fantastic team of Marines to get to OCS. There are so many ways to commission - and at the end of the day, you'll be an ensign/lieutenant just like everyone else.
Thank you so much for sharing your story!

Never lose morale. The end is soon, so why are you giving up when you've almost waited a year? Keep your morale high. Be ready to accept an appointment, but also be ready to accept an rejection. Never fully give up before the finish line!

My coach puts it in a good way:

"You've ran the first 30 yards... why are you slowing down before you hit 40? Why aren't you saying, well I'm here might as well push the pedal to the metal and fully send it through the finish line?"

Stay hopeful!

Last year, there were a couple of posts on here of appointments during and right after the couple of days of mass TWE’s, and then within days after that, people reported their status being updated to “waitlisted” as well.
