USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Thanks.. that makes sense. DS does not check portal regularly. Just hope this endless pending is over soon.
6 more days!!! In my case, I miss having a reason to check the portal every chance I get. Good luck to your DS! Getting this far in the application and not being turned down is an accomplishment in itself. Don't give up hope!

It's especially funny because of how silent the other Academies' waiting threads have been recently.
Not sure other SAs, but USMA is very engaging with candidates. A few current cadets have contacted DS, his FFR often communicates with him, and even admission official called/text/email with him throughout the process. My guess there are much less speculations going on with USMA -:)

When I taught (Chemistry) at USMA, I would call candidates and talk to them about coming to USMA. After I talked to them, I fed that information to someone in the admissions office to let them know how I felt about them. My flight school classmate was also an admissions officer at the time.

We must be in different regions. I'm in the SE, and contacting anyone at admissions has been difficult.

Not necessarily decreasing by the hour, as it could be right now they are rejecting people before they waitlist/accept others. But candidates as a whole don’t have good odds for an acceptance right now, as it should be safe to assume most acceptances have been sent out at this point. But that doesn’t mean that YOU singularly have bad odds, it could be they are just getting some things done before accepting you.

I’m a pretty qualified candidate with good stats and I know that I am 3Q and that no one from my district has been accepted yet. So I don’t really know what my odds are, I would imagine they are higher than pending candidates as a whole though, simply due to the fact that I’m still competing for my district slot.
Balanced advice. There is always hope until there isn’t, and there is no way of knowing how many offers of appointments are actually out there.

How dd USNA inform you of your 3Q status? Typically they don’t, but processes change over the years, so I am always interested when chsnge apparently occurs. DoDMERB and CFA are obvious, but the scholastic/academic/all other evaluated elements is the mystery element. LOA holders can usually assume they are qualified in this category, if any conditions they have to fulfill are not related. Noms are an administrative requirement.

Good luck!

Big hugs to those not getting the news they wanted today (or tomorrow or the next day), but a closed door is always an open window. Building classes at schools is complicated, no doubt magnified at the service academies given the nomination component. Go open one of your acceptance letters. I'm sure you all have several. Go visit one or 2 of those places. I applaud all of you. The end goal is still there. Just make it happen, and good luck to you all!

I’m just so impressed with this 2028 waiting group - humor AND encouragement AND perseverance AND inspiration - how lucky are we to have each other during this waiting & speculating season??!! I will always be grateful for this time waiting with such a great group!

Okay y’all I might be the only one lost about this but what is “DS” “DD” and “3Q” 😅
